Season 2 of the Solo Leveling manhwa is moving forward with the Necromancer arc from the light novel.
For those of you who don’t know much about it, without spoiling much for you guys, let me just say that we will finally get to know more about Sung Jin-Woo’s mysterious abilities and the ‘system’ which helps the hunter do so.
Pretty cool, right? Trust me; you have no idea! In the recent chapters, we saw that Sung Jin-Woo has decided to create his guild – the Ahjin guild and has agreed to work with the Knights guild members under the hardest A-ranked dungeon.
In the last chapter, we saw Jin-Woo leaving annihilating the Great Orcs of the Red Blood Tribe while Beru exchanges fist with the Arch Lich, yet another hooligan of the Monarchs.
Chapter 120 ended in a way that leaves us with a LOT OF EXPECTATIONS for chapter 121, and the biggest of all being the answer to this question, “How is Sung Jin-Woo related to all these creatures?”
Chapter 121 Predictions & Speculation
Solo Leveling season 2 began with the Necromancer arc from the light novel. It’s a light novel manhwa, so there is an anticipation that it will showcase the storyline of National-Level Hunters and the true identity of the ‘system.’
As for the next chapter, there are a couple of things that could happen or be revealed. Let’s begin the discussion.
I. What is a Monarch?
Disclaimer: This section will be full of spoilers if you don’t want any skip to heading 2, “What did the lady see in Woo?”
Monarchs in Solo Leveling are god level beings who are in favor of destroying the planets and bringing chaos under the reign of Supreme God aka the Absolute Being. They are opposed by the eight rulers who wish to bring peace under the reign of Absolute Being.
The former ruler and monarch, Ashborn aka the King of Dead was a god-level Shadow Monarch and the ruler of the undead army. He is shown to have some sort of connection with Sung Jin-Woo which was later fully revealed in the light novel.
II. What did the lady see in Woo?
We are yet to understand what the lady saw that made her so fearful. She likely saw the system’s true identity – the mysterious Shadow Monarch, Ashborn.
If you want more about the Monarchs and other godly beings, you can check out my complete explanation, What is a Monarch in Solo Leveling? Is Sung Jin-Woo a Monarch? But, beware, there will be spoilers.

Chapter 120 Recap
The chapter starts with Sung Jin-Woo making a bada*s entrance at Jin-Ah’s high school – he orders Igris to take care of his sister and fights the Great Orc army.
With his current capabilities, he defeats every single of them in a matter of seconds and gives a chock hold to the tribe leader. Upon asking why they attack humans so much, he gets the same answer as every other monster outbreak – ‘a voice in their heads tells them to do so.’
Meanwhile, in the dungeon, Beru is fighting the undead army along with the Knights guild. The dungeon boss is revealed to be “Arch Lich” – a monstrosity famous for decimating an entire Chinese guild a couple of years back.
While the Knights guild master tries to think of a battleplan, Arch Lich talks to Beru and refers to them as “Monarch’s Personal Army” to which Beru replies that he was chosen while Arch Lich wasn’t.
It will be interesting to see what the next chapter will have in store for us. What do you guys think will happen? Let’s discuss in the comments below.
About Solo Leveling
Solo Leveling is a South Korean novel written by Chu-Gong; it was serialized in Papyrus and later in KakaoPage and concluded with 14 volumes and 270 chapters.
Since a portal connecting our world to a world full of monsters and creatures of all kinds appeared, some people have acquired powers and hunt them: they are called hunters.
Sung Jin-Woo is the weakest of the rank E hunters and barely stronger than a normal human.
One day, he and other hunters find themselves trapped in an extremely dangerous dungeon, and only a few of them survive and manage to escape.
Sung Jin-Woo himself hardly survives and is the only one who completes all the trials in this dungeon. Thus, he begins his journey of becoming the most powerful hunter!
