The Roku Channel recently released the trailer of Slugfest. The ten-part docu-series will deep-dive into the rivalry of the franchises known to dominate the comic world for decades, giving rise to a dynasty.
Narrated by Kevin Smith, the trailer offers clips of Stan Lee’s old interview clips and the biggest names in the Marvel and DC companies.
The companies made sure to keep their fandoms in check, but it was also holding their employees in check. As the trailer suggests, one could either be a DC writer or a Marvel writer.
But fans need to brace themselves even more because Slugfest will also talk about the infamous “DC stealing Jack Kirby” situation.
In between clips of Stan Lee’s old interviews, animated series, games, and Smith’s narration, multiple “earth-shattering” (in a way), scenes showcase the lengths the fandoms have gone through for their favorite superheroes.
The craze Marvel and DC created with their franchise is also added, whether it be a gigantic Spider-Man inflatable, racks filled with dozens of comic books, cosplays, or fan meets.

Slugfest is based on a 2017 book of the same name by Tucker Reed, who chronicled the iconic rivalry between the two powerhouses.
It’s no secret that Marvel and DC remain some of the most prominent and influential pop culture icons, which probably will never die down. But the Russo Brothers hope to give fans “a whole new understanding” of how it shaped pop culture and the world.
Slugfest is one of the rare gems that will bring Marvel and DC’s vast fandom under the same roof, watching the same screen with its premise of discussing the age-old rivalry.
Slugfest will premiere on The Roku Channel on December 24 for free.
