The intense season finale of Slow Horses season 2 had all eyes glued to the screen as the cicadas’ true target was revealed. The episode brilliantly handled the Katinsky-Lamb face-off and River coming face to face with yet another mistake that could set his life plowing to rock bottom.
Not to forget Louisa and Marcus’ nail-biting side mission, Lamb’s checkmate to Katinsky’s game, and Diana’s sidestep in the politics of it all. A satisfying end indeed, leaving us with high hopes for the upcoming seasons.
1. Season 3 Speculation
Like the previous two seasons were based on Mick Herron’s first two books of the Slough Horses novel series, season 3 will be based on the 2016 novel Real Tigers. While that gives us some insight into what to expect from season 3, the season 3 teaser tells us more.
The teaser shows Catherine Standish getting kidnapped for more information on Jackson Lamb and his Slow Horses. The minute-long trailer teases some problems coming River’s way too, which might lead to a standoff between him and the Slow Horses’ leader.
The stakes are higher with each season passing, so we surely intend to keep up with the show once it releases season 3 – do you?
2. Season 3 Release Date
Apple TV+ renewed the show for seasons 3 & 4 in June 2022. Season 3 has no confirmed release date, but we approximate it at the end of 2023.

5. Season 2 Episode 6 Recap
Lamb negotiates Katinsky’s deal that could result in a bomb attack at the Glass House and promises to meet him at Nikolai’s place. River soon realizes the bomb threat was a ruse to send the city into shutdown and reaches out to Diana, who needs to make the call lest it cost her career.
Louisa tortures Kyndril into revealing Pashkin’s reason for killing Min and Nevsky. Once she has the answer, she’s filled with rage. A dead photo of Piotr reveals Pashkin’s escape route, and she leads Marcus to cut him off. Pashkin almost shoots Luisa, but Marcus arrives at the right time to shoot him dead.
Meanwhile, Katinsky and Lamb face off, and Nikolai reveals his true motive – he wanted revenge for Charles Partner’s death and made a move to disgrace and kill Lamb and his crew. He had even sent someone to kill David Cartwright, the trigger to Charles’ death, but Lamb revealed the elderly was safe as he’d seen through Nikolai’s move.
As Lamb leaves Katinsky alone, Nikolai kills himself, and the matter ends. Judd and Taverner blame River’s debacle on the Prime Minister to save their necks, and the Slow Horses have a private funeral for Min.
6. About Slow Horses
Slow Horses is a spy thriller television series based on the Slough House series of novels by Mick Herron. The series premiered on Apple TV+ on April 1, 2022.
Slough House is an administrative purgatory for MI5 service rejects who weren’t outright fired, and those consigned there are known as “Slow Horses.” They’re expected to endure dull tasks and occasional mental abuse from their miserable boss, Jackson Lamb, who expects them to quit out of boredom or frustration. And yet the Slow Horses somehow get involved in investigating schemes endangering Britain.
The series has aired 3 seasons so far and has been renewed for season 5.
