After the massive success of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Ubisoft wanted to make another title in the pirate and bandit genre. However, things did not go quite well because of several complications.
Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones received a release date of February 16th, 2024. Ubisoft+ subscribers can play the title early on February 13th on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The announcement was released at the Game Awards 2023, along with a trailer.
The announcement of a concrete release date for Skull and Bones after the first announcement in 2017’s E3 comes as a source of joy for most fans. They are relieved that one of Ubisoft’s most turbulent projects will finally reach the shelves.
After 2017’s initial announcement at the E3, Ubisoft promised a comprehensive pirate experience in Skull and Bones that will be released by 2018.
The title was pushed back initially to 2019, and after that, there were development delays, pushing dates back to 2020 and 2021. E3 was killed off in 2023, and most fans were losing hope for Skull and Bones ever getting completed.
Now, Skull and Bones is just a matter of time. The players will rule the seats, as the reveal trailer promises. Skull and Bones will feature a 3-player Co-op right from its release.
Players can grow their infamy, master naval warfare in a never-seen form and scale and customize up to 10 ships. Each ship will have its perks to tailor the vessel to match the user’s play style.
Optional PvP servers will be available for those looking for added competition, and PvE servers will have a more amicable experience. The primary objective of Skull and Bones is to allow the player to get into the shoes of the Ship’s Captain.
Players can also participate in a closed beta, allowing selected players to experience the world of pirates from December 15th to 18th. This game results from years of rocky development, and players should be grateful to be able to play Skull and Bones when it arrives on February 16th.
