- Ubisoft is finally launching Skull and Bones on February 16th next month.
Skull and Bones was announced back in 2017. After a long wait of over 5 years, the game is finally arriving next month. The developers recently conducted a closed beta which left many wanting to experience it first hand. Luckily, there’s another opportunity coming for those interested.
Skull and Bones’ open beta will begin on February 7th at 9pm EST and end on February 11th at 6pm EST. Preloading will be available a day earlier, from February 6th at 4am EST. It can be played on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox Series X/S.
PC users can preload the beta via Ubisoft Connect or Epic Games Store. Any progress achieved on the open beta will be carried over to the final game. Players can also earn exclusive rewards such as cosmetics, an emote, a pet, and a unique weapon. Events such as the Main Campaign Contracts, Bounty COntracts, Side Contracts, and many more will also be available.
In Skull and Bones, users can explore the Red Isle, coast of Africa, open seas, and East Indies. You can also watch your favorite Twitch stream play the open beta for a whole hour to earn the Snow Leopard pet.
Keep in mind, the beta will have a level cap but players can continue playing after reaching it. Ship customization is also available during the open beta.
Here are the rewards you can earn during the Skull & Bones Open Beta
- Ship cosmetic: Sir Reginald Grim Sail emblem (Reach Tier 2)
- Ship cosmetic: Tarred Sail pattern (Reach Tier 4)
- Emote: Sign Language (Reach Tier 6)
- Pet: “Cookie” The Lemur (Use a medium ship)
- Weapon: “Basilisk I” Culverin (Participate in a World Event)
The open beta is awfully close to the launch date for Skull and Bones. Many might argue that it is more of a trial/demo than an open beta event. The closed beta did not go as smoothly as expected so it’s better if you don’t go in with too much expectations.
About Skull and Bones
Skull and Bones is an action-adventure video game developed and published by Ubisoft Singapore. The game revolves around piracy and naval warfare.
Set in an open-world environment and played from a third-person perspective, players take control of a customizable pirate captain. They may sail the Indian Ocean by themselves and set off on a single-player campaign or gather up to five other players to ally in player-versus-player gameplay in Disputed Waters.
