Shima and Mitsumi make their way through the class sports competition in episode 5 of Skip and Loafer titled “Prickly and Giddy.”

Inspired by the enthusiasm and hard work done by the people surrounding her, Mitsumi decides to join in the excitement and sign up for some of the class sports in the upcoming event that matches them with other classes in multiple games.

3. Recap of Episode 5:

Mitsumi finds herself being inspired by the people surrounding her, an extremely competitive and hard-working set of classmates, and enthusiastic in every event, especially in the upcoming sports competition where they aim to win every match.

The girls are incredibly anxious about the upcoming competition, and Mitsumi has been extremely bad at sports all her life and has signed up for volleyball. She asks Mika for help and decides to take this opportunity to tutor her and get closer to Shima in the process.

Mitsumi slowly begins getting better at volleyball and even runs into Murashige later, who is also part of the volleyball team. Kurume gets roped into it and watches from the sidelines while they all practice together.

Preparing for the match, they style their hair and get ready in their jerseys and play in their first game. They even manage to make it through to the knockout round. Shima finds herself being the center of attention as all the girls watch as he plays basketball.

Shima notices Mitsumi from across the room but decides not to talk to him in this crowd to spare her the embarrassment and envy of the other girls. The next match finds them on their back foot as they struggle to keep up against some outstanding volleyball players.

However, Mitsumi did not want to merely give up and tried her best to keep up with the rest of the team. They manage to put up a good fight but come in second place. After the match, they go on to cheer Shima and the boys, and Mitsumi even gets a high five from the best boy.

4. About Skip and Loafer

Skip and Loafer is a manga by Misaki Takamatsu that was launched in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine in August 2018. An anime adaptation is set to premiere in April 2023.

The manga focuses on Mitsumi who is from a backward area in Japan and moves to Tokyo for attending high school. Sosuke is an ikemen and he meets Mitsumi on her first day at the new school. Mitsumi is focused on her career, unaware of what the big city has in store for her.

Sosuke becomes quite fond of her and they become friends. It is a cute high school-based series with light-hearted comedy.
