After the death of their Chief, Niles Caulder, the Doom Patrol has had a lot of “world-altering” scenarios to deal with in Season 3. From Larry hosting a parasite to Rita being sucked back to 1917, the mid-season trailer teases how it will all end.
The third’s season crux was uncovering who Laura was — the mysterious woman with amnesia who travels to the future to warn the Doom Patrol about a peril… she can’t quite remember. Yeah, that bit gets a little in the way of saving the world.
Going ahead, here’s what the chaotic mid-season trailer teases for Season 3’s final four episodes:
For one, we will finally see Larry eject the parasite that has been living inside him. It is unclear if this is a good thing or not, but of course, the Doom Patrol’s first instinct is to joke about it, then immediately freak out.
Jane, on the other hand, has allowed Kay to come up to the surface. But she cannot seem to find the right answers for handling Kay’s trauma and balancing the other personalities’ wants.
A big win for Rita is that time-traveling, which has caused a (temporary?) memory loss, allows her to have better control over her power for the first time ever! Unburdened by her distressing past, she can become a better version of herself.
As much as I love her character development, I do miss seeing her in the present with the rest of the Doom Patrol. Will Rita escape 1917 and get back to the 21st century? Fingers Crossed.
Today’s episode 7 also gives us more details about the Sisterhood of Dada’s endgame: As their name suggests, some of their principles employ Dadaism that rejects reason, logic, or aesthetician. This makes sense as they are metahumans who are scorned and hunted down by society.
Initiated as a rebellion against the Bureau of Normalcy, they turn more sinister in nature. To bring the world to their knees, they will carry out something known as Eternal Flagellation.
What exactly that entails will be uncovered in the coming episodes. Till then, don’t forget to piffle paffle!
