Sister Wives: “Liar, Liar!” Kody Brown’s Worst Recent Fibs & Deflections Explained

Over the years, Kody Brown from Sister Wives has been caught in horrific lies and deflections. Sister Wives started in 2010, and it brought polygamous relationships to the forefront of reality television.

Kody was the head of the family, along with his three wives, Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown. After living as a family of four with their children, they welcomed Robyn Brown as their fourth and last wife. The sitcom’s first season they were focused on the family’s courtship of Robyn and their ultimate wedding.

Sister Wives season 19, which depicts the conclusion of Kody’s relationships with his first three wives, airs almost two decades after the show’s inception.

Christine grew tired of waiting for her husband to pay attention to her, and when he told her they couldn’t have an intimate marriage anymore, she ended the relationship. Shortly after, the flaws in Kody’s relationships with Janelle and Meri Brown became apparent, and they both decided to leave him. Kody’s marriage with Robyn has deteriorated since his divorce; to repair it, he may have to quit lying.

1. Did Kody Lie About His Marriage With Robyn?

Kody Was Called Out For Lying About His Marriage With Robyn. Before the premiere of Sister Wives season 19, TLC posted a promotional video on Instagram in which the group participated in a word association game.

When offered with the word “marriage,” Kody said, “Now, the source of all joy.” When asked about the word “family,” he responded with a similar quip, saying it reminded him of “the source of all joy and all pain.” Fans in the comments section accused Kody of lying about his marriage to Robyn after the season 19 trailer revealed they were having difficulty.

2. Did Kody Con His Ex-Wives?

Kody repeatedly made his ex-partners feel they were a problem in their marriages and the Brown family dynamics. Meri’s relationship took a turn for the worst after she became embroiled in a catfish cheating scandal while speaking with someone she mistook for a male.

She thought she had genuine affection for the individual who turned out not to be real. Kody could never trust Meri again after she was catfished, despite having endured years of maltreatment up to that time.

After being accused of cheating on him, she worked hard to save their marriage, but he did not. Kody misled Meri into believing they had a chance to revive their romance. He made no arrangements to celebrate their thirty-second wedding anniversary.

Meri called and invited him to dinner, which he tried to avoid, but told her he was tired of “faking relationships.” In contrast, Kody reprimanded Christine for her “behavior” as Robyn’s sister’s wife.

As the intimacy between Kody and Christine diminished, he began spending more time with his fourth wife. Christine always referred to Robyn as his “favorite wife,” even though he claimed not to play favorites.

When they sat down to discuss their lack of intimacy, Kody stated that he didn’t want to have a sexual relationship with her because he thought she was a horrible sister-wife.

3. How is Kody’s Relationship with His Kids?

Following the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States, Kody’s relationships with his children deteriorated. He notably feuded with Janelle’s sons because he believed they were disrespectful for failing to obey the safety regulations he devised for the family.

While claiming to be improving his relationship with his children, Janelle revealed that he had given them the “ultimatum” to apologize to him and Robyn to save their relationship. “He hasn’t made an effort. “He’s still acting like they must come to him,” Janelle added.

Unfortunately, Kody’s relationship with his children has not improved. He also made the terrible decision not to travel for the scoliosis surgery of his and Christine’s daughter, Ysabel.

Kody was worried about acquiring COVID-19 and infecting one of his and Robyn’s children while attending the operation. However, this could have been an excuse for him not to spend time with Christine.

Kody’s recent deceptions turned Sister Wives supporters against him. After years of gaslighting Meri, Janelle, and Christine, the women abandoned him to live a monogamous life with Robyn. Kody forgets that his words and actions are being recorded for the show, which sends him into a nasty spiral of lying and misdirection.

4. About Sister Wives

Sister Wives is an American reality television series broadcast on TLC that premiered on September 26, 2010. The show documents the life of a polygamist family, which includes Kody Brown, his wife Robyn (née Sullivan), ex-wives Meri (née Barber), Janelle (née Schriever), and Christine (née Allred), and their 18 children (1 by Meri, 6 by both Janelle and Christine, 5 by Robyn although 3 were between her and her ex-husband David Preston Jessop).

The family began the series living in Lehi, Utah, moved to Las Vegas in 2011, and to Flagstaff, Arizona, in mid-2018.[1]

Brown and his four wives have stated they participated in the show to make the public aware of polygamist families and to combat societal prejudices. Brown argues that his polygamist arrangement is legal because he is married (legally) to only one woman (Meri, then later Robyn), while the other marriages are “spiritual unions”.
