The upcoming Intel Core i9-13900 flagship CPU is a 24-core processor with the configuration of 8P+16E cores. The processors are based on Intel 7+ process technology. The 13th Gen CPUs, codenamed “Raptor Lake,” will feature improved L3, L2 cache, and DDR5 memory support.
SiSoftware has published a preview of Intel’s upcoming 13th Gen i9-13900 CPU.
With lower clock speeds i.e. Raptor Lake– 3.7 GHz P-Core & 2.76 GHz E-Core and Alder Lake– 5.0 GHz P-Core & 3.8 GHz E-Core:
- ALU/FPU test results of the preview show an overall 33% to 50% improvement compared to its counterpart Alder Lake.
- Vectorized/SIMD tests confirm 5% to 8% better performance than Alder Lake.
While this is not a typical review, it is merely based on existing results. At the very best, consider this a brief overview of the overall architecture supported by a few elements of performance tests.
Intel plans to launch the 13th Gen Raptor Lake by October 2022. The CPUs are powerful and efficient with increased cores, cache, and latencies. It will be a tough choice with AMD’s Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 releasing around the same time.
