Shrinking, a smash sitcom on Apple TV+ starring Harrison Ford and Jason Segel, has already been renewed for a second season. Shrinking follows a group of therapists as they try different techniques to help their patients.
However, it becomes clear that just because they are therapists does not imply that their personal lives are completely in order.
Jason Segel and Harrison Ford made an unexpected dramedy pairing, and the Frank series received a great reception from Apple TV+ subscribers.
Shrinking Season 1 has a 91% Rotten Tomatoes rating and an 87% audience score. Segel, Bill Lawrence (Scrubs), and Brett Goldstein, a comedian who plays Roy Kent in Ted Lasso, co-created the show.
With such a strong cast and creative team and an extraordinarily enthusiastic reception from fans, the program would never be a one-shot miniseries. Season 2 news is already coming in, but between the story specifics, the cast, and the release date, there’s also a lot of curiosity about the second season.
1. When will Shrinking Season 2 Release?
Despite the delays caused by strikes in 2023, the newest report confirms Shrinking season 2’s release date on Apple TV+.
Keeping as near to a yearly timetable as feasible (given the delays), Season 2 of Shrinking will premiere on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, October 16. Even better news: the season will have 12 episodes, up from the originally planned 10.
2. Shrinking Season 2 Cast and Crew
The whole cast of the first season may return for Shrinking Season 2. Jason Segel will return as Jimmy Laird, Harrison Ford as Dr. Paul Rhoades, and Jessica Williams as Gaby, a therapist who works with Jimmy and Paul.
The Shrinking season 2 cast will probably add several new characters in the shape of the therapists’ customers. However, the full Shrinking season 2 cast has yet to be announced.
One confirmed guest star is series co-creator Brett Goldstein, who will play a small role in the upcoming season. Joining Goldstein is fellow Ted Lasso alumnus Ashley Nicole Black, who will also play a role in the upcoming season while pulling double duty as a writer.

3. Shrinking Season 2 Plot: What Happens Next?
In a shocking climax at the end of Shrinking Season 1, Grace (Heidi Gardner), one of Jimmy’s patients, pushes her violent lover off a cliff.
This could result in Jimmy losing his employment as a therapist, as he previously playfully encouraged Grace to “boop” her partner off a cliff, for which he could be held liable, and he also failed to recognize the indicators that Grace was capable of such a thing.
However, in Shrinking Season 2, Lawrence hinted that “they’re not gonna be in a courtroom,” implying a cover-up.
4. Shrinking Season 2 Will Have To Address A Big Cliffhanger
Despite being a fun show, the season 1 conclusion of Shrinking takes a quite tragic turn. In the final scene, Grace (Heidi Gardner) pushes her violent boyfriend over a cliff. It acts as a long-term payback for Jimmy’s questionable therapeutic practices.
Paul tells him he is either too involved with his patients or distracted. In Grace’s situation, the latter technique may simply mean a character’s death and Grace’s life being devastated. The show did have some lighter stakes, such as Jimmy’s growing friendship with colleague therapist Gaby (played by Williams).
But more than any individual storyline, Shrinking Season 1 stood out thanks to the skill and chemistry of a cast that could mix and match with just about any of its actors.
That’s also confirmed to increase, with co-creator and two-time Emmy-winning Roy Kent actor Brett Goldstein boarding season 2 in a mystery role. It adds another level of intrigue to the series’ second outing.
