Jimmy’s problems with Sean have spread from his office to his home, but it’s a problem that the overbearing therapist has brought upon himself. Alice’s shocking truth and her secret confession might be too much for the single father, which means he’ll be looking for more distractions, translating into more therapy drama for us.
Liz, Gaby, and Jimmy may have made up, but Paul needs to make up with Jimmy as well as make up his mind about telling Meg the truth about his impending doom. What will the next episode bring for Laird, his patients, and fellow therapists?
1. Episode 5 Synopsis/Speculation
When Jimmy hits a roadblock with Sean, he doesn’t have Paul to consult for advice. Brian makes an announcement about his relationship.
Gaby and Liz have made up, and we expect to see a budding friendship there, but it seems like Jimmy and Paul are drifting further apart. With Paul on borrowed time, we hope that the two will soon hash out their differences, since both of them need a supportive shoulder in the coming episodes.
And it seems like Jimmy will start missing Paul’s wise commentary soon! Sean’s closed-off demeanor about his past and Alice’s creeping crush on the ex-marine are bound to make Jimmy run to Paul, begging for forgiveness, and asking for some much-needed advice.
We’ve seen Jimmy’s best friend only two times so far, and the next episode will mark the third and probably the biggest Brian appearance since he is about to reveal a mystery relationship. We’re excited to see how this complicates his and Jimmy’s life and makes the show more entertaining for us.
Alice’s crush on Sean is not only going to complicate the therapist’s messed-up relationship with his patient, but it will also put a toll on Jimmy and Alice’s mending bond.
Paul may not have come clean to Meg yet and will clearly have a hard time doing it in the upcoming episodes but when it happens be sure to keep your tissues ready.

5. Episode 4 Recap
Liz and Jimmy make nice after the nosy neighbor apologizes about snooping on Alice while Paul continues to avoid Jimmy. Sean and his therapist hit an obstacle as Sean denies Jimmy deeper access into his PTSD issues. Jimmy asks Gaby for advice when Paul points out that the personal relation, he’s built with Sean, is the problem.
Brian advises Paul to hand over medical power of attorney to him and come clean to his daughter. Paul explains how that is difficult since he cut her off after the split with his wife but agrees to meet with Meg.
Meanwhile, Gaby and Alice bond over missing Tia and Alice’s love life, revealing she lost her virginity to Liz’s son Connor. Gaby persuades Alice to tell her dad, who handles the situation poorly, bursting at Liz and creepily glaring at Connor despite claiming to be a cool dad.
But later, Jimmy talks to Connor and makes his peace, drinking with Liz and Gaby at the end. But it seems like his daughter’s love life is bound to put him through the grinder again after she unknowingly confesses to liking Sean.
Paul meets up with Meg, but her icy disposition keeps him from burdening her with his saddening news. He may have to face that elephant soon, but first, Jimmy must clear the air with Alice and Sean.
