Showtime’s servers crashed ahead of the much-awaited Logan Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather fight. The former star originally gained fame thanks to his YouTube presence but has recently shifted careers and now fights in the UFC. However, his fight today with Mayweather gained a lot of media attention due to the renowned boxer’s 50-0 record.
Thirty minutes before the match’s commencement, Showtime posted a final Tweet for fans to get ready for the match, although the angered masses reported the servers had crashed. Check out the Tweet here:
Even minutes before the match, Combat Sports editor Andreas Hale tweeted out saying,
“Showtime app still down. This is an incredible f*** up.”

Many fans even proceeded to demand refunds as streams continued to drop out. Fortunately, though, Showtime was able to get the network back and running after a while, as viewers had already paid $49.99 to watch the brawl.
Check out some of the reactions here:
Mayweather’s prominence as a professional boxer and Paul’s controversial life along with YouTuber brother Jake was the reason behind fans’ anticipation for the match. While Paul doesn’t have much experience as a boxer, his fight against fellow YouTuber KSI garnered much attention.
Paul’s match against Mayweather was announced in December 2020, right after his brother Jake won against former pro basketball player Nate Robinson. Despite Mayweather having retired in 2017, the boxing promoter joined the ring for a second time since he stepped down.
But having a server crash preceding a big event is not unheard of and is usually resolved by networks soon enough. Disney+ faced a similar issue back in February during the premiere of WandaVision’s seventh episode, “Breaking the Fourth Wall.”
But Showtime’s server crash was slightly different as viewers had already paid for the premium channel and the event itself. Mayweather and Paul were set to go eight rounds, and the match ended without a knockout.
