Netflix thriller You‘s showrunner has teased the show’s Season 3 release on social media. Based on the novels by Caroline Kepnes, it follows Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), a charming New York bookstore manager who becomes an obsessive stalker when he falls in love.
Much to the anticipation of fans, showrunner Sera Gamble recently took to Instagram to give an update on the status of Season 3. She posted a picture of the first page of Episode 10’s script along with the caption, “Getting closer.” Check out her Instagram post here:
The page also reveals that the script has been revised quite a number of times, which means that the cast and crew have been working on Season 3 since January of this year. But, other than details like the names of the writers and director, the image does not reveal any major spoilers for the upcoming installment.
Furthermore, Gamble covered up the episode’s title with a bunch of heart emojis to ensure eagle-eyed fans from picking up any clues. However, it can be deduced that the third season is in the final stages of filming, considering the previous two seasons only had ten episodes each.
Coming to the plot, Season 3 will pick up from where the previous one left off. The shocking finale revealed that Love is as deranged and obsessive as Joe, having committed cold-blooded murders and that she is pregnant with Joe’s child.
The last moments of the episode also teased a new character in the form of Joe and Love’s female neighbor after moving to a suburban home. The woman who was only shown in glimpses caught Joe’s eye as he is seen to be curious about her identity.
The series, which takes on the topic of toxic relationships, has got viewers hooked since it made its debut on Netflix. You first aired on Lifetime after being picked up by the streaming giant, where it reigns as one of its hit shows.
In January 2020, it was confirmed that You had been renewed for a third season, with Badgley and Pedretti reprising their roles. However, filming and production had to be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Even though Netflix is yet to reveal its premiere date with the crew hinting at its forthcoming release, maybe the wait won’t be too long.
