The captivating gameplay of Horizon Forbidden West involves making several essential dialogue choices crucial to the storyline and the gameplay. You will face one such choice during the 16th main story quest of the game titled “The Wings of the Ten,” where you have to decide whether to kill Regalla or spare her.
Regalla is the leader of the Tenakth rebels and a fierce warrior who serves as one of the game’s major villains. After defeating her in a battle, you will be given three choices:
- “Your life ends here” (Kill),
- “There’s another battle ahead” (Spare), and
- “This isn’t easy.”
The last option doesn’t specifically do anything except extending the cutscene, so your two main options are killing or sparing her.
Players should spare Regalla to make her join Aloy’s squad for the game’s final battle and to watch her valiant character development. Unfortunately, she will still die during a scripted cutscene later in the game.
Choosing “Your life ends here” / Killing Regalla in Horizon Forbidden West
If you choose the dialogue “Your life ends here” with the fist icon next to it, Regalla will accept her fate, and Kotallo will impale her with a spear killing her immediately.
Later during the cutscene, Hekarro will reward Aloy with Regalla’s Wrath, a Sharpshot Bow. If you wish to receive this unique bow, you must kill Regalla.
It is a decent bow for stealthily sniping your enemies from afar, but there are much better legendary Sharpshot bows in the game that can be won at the Arena.
Choosing “There’s another battle ahead” / Sparing Regalla in Horizon Forbidden West
If you choose the dialogue “There’s another battle ahead” with the heart icon next to it, Aloy will spare Regalla’s life and recruit her into the squad by offering her a much better death in a future battle against Far Zenith.
If spared, Regalla will later be seen at the squad’s base, and Aloy will have a deep conversation with her in a long and unique cutscene. She will also help Aloy storm the Zenith base during the Singularity quest and sacrifice herself in the final battle.
Unfortunately, if you save her life, you won’t receive the Regalla’s Wrath bow from Hekarro. Still, in my opinion, the trade-off is worth it, as you get to see more of Regalla’s character, its development, and her heroic sacrifice later in the game.
