Minrathous or Treviso- Which city should you save in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, your decisions heavily influence quests. While some choices may not have significant implications, others can greatly affect the storyline. Players have to make one such heavily impactful decision during the early game.

As you advance in the main story, both the cities of Minrathous and Treviso come under simultaneous attack from blighted dragons controlled by an Elven God. It is now up to you to save these cities; however, you can only choose to save one. Which side will you take?

1. Should you help Minrathous or Treviso in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

Players should assist Minrathous, as it leads to the best game ending and causes minimal damage to overall faction strength. This choice is also the best for those romantically pursuing Neve.

The choice is up to the players and which city they want to defend. Defending Treviso will upset Neve while defending Minrathous will annoy Lucanis. The results of each choice are quite similar. This can lead to failed side quests and complicate developing romance options with certain characters.

New side quests will also appear in the city that is not defended, showing the wider effects of your decision. You will also need to unlock all Dragon Age Veilguard fast-travel beacons again in the destroyed city.

Note: It is recommended to complete the side quests related to Lucanis and Neve before making the “Minrathous or Treviso” choice.

2. Outcomes of all the Choices

2.1 Help Minrathous

The following will be the outcomes if you decide to save Minrathous-

  • Gain access to “On Blighted Wings” main quest.
  • Face off against the blighted fire-dragon Seartooth Vyrantus.
  • Increases approval with Neve.
  • Lucanis won’t be available as a companion for two main quests, and the option of romancing him will be gone. Additionally, he will become hardened.
  • Shadow Dragons gain faction strength (+150).
  • Antivan Crows lose faction strength (-250).
  • Treviso and its area are blighted.

2.2 Help Treviso

The following will be the outcomes if you decide to save Treviso-

  • Gain access to “On Deadly Wings” main quest.
  • Face off against the blighted ice-dragon boss, Corius the Ice Talon.
  • Increases approval with Lucanis.
  • Neve won’t be available as a companion for two main quests, and the option of romancing her will be gone. Additionally, she will become hardened.
  • Antivan Crows gain faction strength (+150).
  • Shadow Dragons lose faction strength (-250).
  • Minrathous and its area are blighted.

Ultimately, you can’t save both cities, and one of them will inevitably face consequences. Therefore, it’s best to make your choice based on the characters involved and your personal preferences regarding them.
