Certain manga are just more than the manga.  From a mere naive curiosity,  they somehow become our whole world. We rejoice in our favorite character’s victory and shed tears at their sadness; overall, their world becomes ours, too. 

There were so many shonen manga that we will be waving goodbye to in 2024. With so many happy and some traumatic memories in our hearts, here is the list of top of top 10 Shonen Manga that have and will be ending soon.

10. Muscle Island

Written and illustrated by Nariaki Narita, the series began serialization on October 15, 2022, and ended on August 17, 2024, on the Shonen Jump+ app. The last volume is scheduled for September 4, 2924.

Not many people knew about this amazing story of ‘Muscle Island,’ where people train their bodies to gain muscle. So does Shibaki, a member of the research team, until he gets to experience the miracle himself.

9. Kyokuto Necromance

Another shonen manga which will bid early farewell to its fans on September 2, 2024, with a mere 18 chapters. Kyokuto Necromance has an amazing necromancer storyline that fans wanted to see more of but had to be satisfied with the abrupt end.

Fusai Naba began the serialization in April 2024 in Shonen Jump, and in a mere six months, he had to warp up the plot under 1 volume. Nonetheless, fans are hopeful about the author’s next series getting a long serialization.

8. Psych House

Psych House is the supernatural slice of life that follows the high school girl with the teleportation power and explores the world of ‘Psych House’- A place for those with the supernatural, i.e., psych abilities.

Psych House is another Shonen manga of 2024 that ended too soon than it was intended. Omuduke Kobayashi had built an interesting world through which he had so much to express, but alas, it concluded in September 2024 with a final volume release in November.

7. Shojo Null

Shojo Null is a Japanese manga series written by Kane Nakanishi and illustrated by Akima. It had only begun its serialization in April 2023 but had to be warped within the year in the 4 volumes.

The dramatic sci-fi revolves around Riaha, who discovers the dark secret of his seemingly perfect world after meeting the Gijin, an organic robot. It was another underrated story with the vast potential that fans were sad to see it go.

6. Stage S

Stage S by Tomoya Harikawa brought a refreshing concept in the shonen genre that was really starting to resonate with the audience but, sadly, not being talked about enough. It ended in September 2024 with a total of 6 volumes.

The series follows Meguru Ukiyo, who is smitten with his childhood friend, Sara Tatsumi. But one day, when he stumbles across the future-revealing snake, which unexpectedly changes his world.

5. Cipher Academy

Written by NISIOISIN and illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, the series is about the Cipher Academy, which follows the Spartan style teaching. Iroha is a newly enrolled student whose life changes after getting a magical pair of glasses.

The manga started serializing in Shonen Jump, with the first chapter published on November 21, 2024. The series had a short but amazing two-year run, which ended in 2024.

4. Jiangshi X

Jiangshi X is a shonen manga that was well-praised for its worldbuilding and artwork. Created by Norihiko Kurazono, it began serialization on Shonen Jump+ in January 2023 and ended in February 2024.

It is a Chinese Battle Fantasy about young warriors who bravely stand against the greatest evil to protect a thousand years of peace through rigorous training.

3. Captain Tsubasa

Captain Tsubasa, the popular football manga by Yōichi Takahashi, has just completed its 43-year run in April 2024, and the series fans have never been prouder. The manga, apart from its legacy, has also inspired many popular footballers.

The series mainly focuses on the protagonist, Tsubasa Oozora, who is a promising association footballer, and his relationships and dream of winning the FIFA World Cup for Japan.

2. My Hero Academia

One of the big three of Shonen Jump, that fans were really sad to see it go. After giving some of the most iconic and memorable battles in anime history, the decade-old journey of MHA concluded on August 5, 2024.

Written by Kohei Horikoshi, the series is set in the backdrop of a society where people have superpowers( quirk) and institutes where they learn to use their powers against evil. It mainly follows Izuku Midoriya, a quirkless boy’s journey to become the greatest hero.

Finally, here comes the manga, whose ending announcement mercilessly broke millions of hearts. After countless unforgettable fights and trauma, the series will finally see the end of the cycle on September 30, 2024.

While some are happy to embrace the ending, others feel that a lot of potential plot is wasted due to the rushed ending; nonetheless, fans eagerly await the conclusion of Yuji and his friends and the Jujutsu society as a whole.
