It is common in the shonen world to see a teen protagonist who starts training for their dream since childhood. However, we rarely see adult protagonists who start training in middle age.
And Shinmai Ossan Bōkensha is here to break this stereotype and prove that age is not a factor in pursuing your dreams. This light novel series has received immense praise for its story and is receiving its well-deserved anime adaptation.
More information about the series has been released and here’s everything you need to know.
The official website of Kiraku Kishima’s Shinmai Ossan Bōkensha, Saikyō Party ni Shinu Hodo Kitaerarete Muteki ni Naru (The Rookie Middle-Aged Adventurer Was Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party to Become Invincible) revealed a 2024 premiere.
The brief teaser trailer features the story of our 30-year-old protagonist, pursuing his dreams at an older age, which is quite unconventional. He is accompanied by his guild members Reanette Elfelt, Broughston Ashorc, Mizett Eldwarf, and Alicerette Draqul as they now go on a new adventure.

About Shinmai Ossan Bōkensha, Saikyō Party ni Shinu Hodo Kitaerarete Muteki ni Naru
Shinmai Ossan Boukensha, Saikyou Party ni Shinu Hodo Kitae Rarete Muteki ni Naru started off as a web novel by Kiraku Kishima. A light novel series published under the HJ Novels label and illustrated by Tea began in December 2018.
Starting the path of an adventurer at a young age is common sense. It takes years of training to gain magical powers. However, Rick is beginning after he turns 30. Despite this setback, he has already lived an incredible life with top-ranking fighting abilities thanks to his work with Orichalcum Fist.
He is also part of a legendary party of the most powerful adventurers in the land. With skills honed by literal “Monster-class” masters ranging from dragons to vampires, Rick takes on one elite adventurer after another.
