Shining Girls Episode 5 Speculation
Kirby visits the killer’s other survivor, Jin-Sook, and tells her that she should stay with her friends and family. She doesn’t realize the killer had been watching her and that he follows her to the laundromat that was at the address of the bar from the matchbox.
After her run-in with her attacker, her current reality changes again and the laundromat is replaced with a bar that didn’t exist earlier. The bar has the same name as the matchbox. What other changes occurred in her reality? Will more victims of the killer resurface once the story breaks out? Find out in the next episode.

Shining Girls Episode 4 Recap
The episode begins with a montage of all the women the killer murdered over the years. In the next scene, it is revealed that Kirby’s name was originally Sharon and the killer visits her mother in the hospital the night he attacked her. In the present, Dan explains in a meeting that he’d been able to link the killer to multiple victims and that his source is a victim as well who recognized the killer’s voice through the tapes that Julia had recorded.
Kirby and Marcus listen to the first recording of the tape and they notice an echo. While the audio expert says this is usual, Kirby doesn’t seem to think so. She theorizes that the killer knew what Julia was going to say before she says it. She remembers an instance when her attacker had written song lyrics of a song she liked on the wall. Meanwhile, the attacker visits Kirby’s old house and finds out she doesn’t live there anymore.
Things are chaotic at the news office as everyone scrambles to put together the story as the pressure is on with the deadline approaching. Dan makes a groundbreaking connection between the victims—the killer takes objects from a victim and places them inside another victim after murdering them. Kirby changes her mind about remaining anonymous and decides to talk about being the killer’s surviving victim. The episode ends with her becoming the face of the story when it goes to print.
