The Japan Academy Film Prize Association held a press conference in Tokyo on Monday, revealing the nominees for various awards for its 46th annual event. The list includes five animation films and some live-action films for different categories.
The 46th Annual Japan Academy Film Prize Awards will be held at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Tokyo on March 10. The films are eligible for nomination if they were released in Japan between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022.
As per the announcement, five animated films have been selected for the Excellent Animation of the Year award. Here are the nominees:
1. Inu-Oh (Directed by Masaaki Yuasa, Science SARU)
2. Suzume no Tojimari (Directed by Makoto Shinkai, CoMix Wave Films, Story Inc.), also nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Music
3. The First Slam Dunk (Directed by Takehiko Inoue, Toei Animation, Dandelion Animation Studio)
4. One Piece Film: Red (Directed by Goro Taniguchi, Toei Animation)
5. Lonely Castle in the Mirror (Directed by Keiichi Hara, A-1 Pictures)
In addition to this, a few live-action films have also been nominated. Three films have been nominated for multiple categories. Here are their names, along with the categories they are nominated in:

About Suzume no Tojimari
Suzume no Tojimari is an anime film by Makoto Shinkai. It premiered on November 11, 2022. A novel adaptation was released in August 2022, also written by Shinkai.
The film focuses on Suzume, a 17-year-old girl who meets a young man looking for a door. Suzume finds a strange door among the ruins and opens it, but due to it many doors start opening around Japan, causing disasters. Now, Suzume has to close all of them to save Japan.
