Episode 1 Recap
Izumi carefully begins his first day of the second year in high school but trips as soon as he leaves his house. He leaves early in order to meet up with his girlfriend, Shikimori, and despite being famous for having an unlucky streak, he makes it to the bus stop in one piece.
We soon meet Shikimori, a beautiful pink-haired girl. Izumi apologizes to her for being late, but she brushes it off with a smile.
On their way to the school, Izumi almost gets hit by a truck, but Shikimori swiftly pulls him away from the road. He looks up at her with a surprised expression and thinks how sometimes his girlfriend is more cool than cute.
Upon reaching school, Izumi prays that he gets assigned to the same class as Shikimori, and luckily, the two end up together. Not only that, but Shikimori’s friends Neko and Hachimitsu and Izumi’s buddy Inuzuka are also in the same class.
After meeting up with their respective friends, the two part ways for the time being. When the class begins, the homeroom teacher asks everyone to introduce themselves, and Izumi slips up due to nervousness. He introduces himself as “Ijumi,” which makes the entire class chuckle.
His classmates wonder why Shikimori chose to be with Izumi since she seems way out of his league. Shikimori overhears this conversation, and after asking Izumi to accompany her to the library, she gives the bullies a death glare to silence them.
After school ends, the two decide to go bowling with their friends. As usual, Izumi’s luck makes him miss every single shot, but Shikimori’s excellent physical abilities surprise everyone as she shoots a perfect 300.
The episode ends as Shikimori and Izumi walk home together. He says how sometimes he feels inadequate as a boyfriend since it’s always her who comes to his rescue. Shikimori asks him whether the comments from their classmates bothered him.
Izumi reluctantly agrees, and then Shikimori tells him to ignore them since she always wants to be by his side and protect him.
