Shanks Tests Bartolomeo’s Loyalty Towards Luffy in One Piece Chapter 1126

As the Straw Hats sail towards Elbaf and the Land of the Giants grows closer, fans eagerly await new adventures on the promised land. After Chapter 1125, showing the death of Saint Saturn and the Punk Records getting stolen from York, all ends seemed tied up.

It felt like the time for Elbaf to start, yet we are at a halt as other interesting things happen in Chapter 1126 of One Piece. Do not fret, fellow compatriots; you shall not be disappointed.

1. What happens in Chapter 1126 of One Piece?

Chapter 1126 has a fight between the Red Hair Pirates and the Barto Club. It ends with the Barto Club losing and Shanks using the opportunity to test Bartolomeo’s loyalty to Luffy. Koby escapes Blackbeard and Garp gets captured instead. Finally, Luffy, Nami, and others vanish on the sea.

Other than the Red Hair Pirates crushing the Barto Club and the test of loyalty given by Shanks, the focus of Chapter 1126 lies in the Hachinosu island, with Blackbeard angry at Pizarro for Koby escaping.

Pizarro was probably the only one who could restrain Koby, he is regretful and angry with this fact when he congratulates Kuzan for the capture of Garp.

Monkey D. Garp is a way more valuable resource even if just for negotiation, since he is famous across the boundless pirate seas.

The scene shifts again to show Luffy and the Straw Hats sailing towards Elbaf. We see suddenly that Thousand Sunny vanishes into thin air. Luffy, Zoro, Nami and a few others follow suit as the rest of the Straw Hats are baffled completely.

2. How does Shanks test Bartolomew’s loyalty?

Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates face off against Bartolomeo’s Barto Club. They are defeated, and Shanks offers Bartolomeo a chance to live. He gives him a vial of poison, telling him to use it to poison Luffy within a month. Bartolomeo drinks the poison himself, and it turns out it is a fake and a test from Shanks.

Oda has repeatedly teased the fans that the reliable Shanks might be the final villain in all of One Piece. The amateur sleuths agree as well. In the spoilers of the new chapter, we see this aspect of Shanks being teased.

As Shanks demolishes the Barto Club, he gives Bartolomeo an option if he wishes to survive. It is to poison Straw Hat Pirate Captain Monkey D. Luffy within a month. Shanks even gives Bartolomeo the poison himself.

Bartolomeo and his Barto Club had joined the Straw Hat Fleet long ago. Bartolomeo is seen proving his loyalty to Luffy as he gulps down the vial of poison himself. To his surprise, there is no poison, and he is completely fine.

It turns out that Shanks was playing the villain for fun and testing Bartolomeo’s loyalty towards Luffy. It seems like he was just concerned and looking out for the cheeky pirate.

The Pirate Ship of the Barto Club is destroyed in the same chapter as the crew tries to flee, so maybe there is a little gray in Shanks after all.
