New events are developing in the Shaman Fight, and unexpected plots unfold. After all the commotion with Yoh and his friends, we finally know what Yoh planned to do with Hao.

Episode 39 Recap
This episode continues the fight with Marco and Luchist. Lyserg suggests to Yoh that only the Iron Maiden can stop them. Yoh doesn’t want Iron Maiden to join the fight and states the main goal for Luchist is to take out Ms. Maiden for Hao.
They then prepare to fight given the odd circumstances. Trying to save Marco, Yoh gets in a fight with Luchist. He gets caught in Luchist’s attack that can cut off any spirit ally. As Luchist tries to take out Yoh’s spirit ally, Yoh gets grabbed by Shamash.
Luchist finds that Lyserg called Ms. Maiden to fight but realizes the one he’s facing isn’t the real Iron Maiden. He then tries to take out the person casting the Over Soul but finds Lyserg turning into a spirit ally. As this happens, Lyserg uses Zelel and takes out Luchist’s Over Soul.
Later, Marco tries to kill himself for deceiving the members of X-Laws about its true purpose. Ms. Maiden pleads with Marco not to do so because they can start a reborn X-Laws and move forward. Afterward, everyone gathers back at Yoh’s place.
Yoh then reveals what he wanted to tell before all the incidents took place. He states that Hao will win the Shaman Fight, and there’s nothing to do about it. With everyone finding it absurd, Yoh further explains how they can defeat Hao.
He says anyone who wins the tournament will have to be in a temporary state of death for cleansing. This will be their chance to defeat Hao. As the Shaman Fight continues, Anna states that Team Ren will face off against Team Vidyaraja, part of Gandhara.
Later Ren tells his team no matter what, he will face Yoh in the tournament, and the upcoming match is just a stepping stone.
In the tournament, Team Ren is up against Team Vidyaraja. Ren tells Joco and Horohoro he’ll handle the first part while they can tag in later.
Ren uses Sword Mirage to see what the Kami-class group is all made of. He gets astonished that none of his attacks touched the team. He then takes on one of them and finds his mana disappearing before his sword reaches the opponent.
Yainage introduces himself and states his spirit ally Kundali can cancel mana to nothingness. Ren is intrigued by Yainage’s powers and is determined to find a way to land an attack.
Yainage gets ready for his fight with Ren after asking his team to step back for the moment.

Shaman King is a manga written and illustrated by Hiroyuki Takei. It began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump from June 30, 1998.
