Yoh then gets frustrated that Anna is acting as such. Matamune mentions how Yoh is experiencing love at first sight, but he ignores it. Yoh then asked about the demon being connected with Anna. Matamune finds it intriguing that Yoh figured about it quickly.

He replies to him how demons direct such regret and resentment more towards shamans. Yoh mentions it’s better to get over a grudge, but Matamune explains that those emotions become heartbreaking. Matamune narrates a poem on being in solitude relating to Anna’s situation.

Afterward, Yoh trying to get souvenirs gets confronted by Anna. He questions her on how she knows so much about him, and this startles her.  Anna slaps Yoh and leaves, but Yoh follows her and questions who she is.

As she tries to answer his question, a powered-up Nakaoni appears. The demon attacks Yoh, but he dodges it. Anna then explains about how demons appear and do bad things wherever she goes out. Yoh then understands the demon has a physical form and can be defeated.

He decides to fight the demon, which astonishes Anna, but she screams at Yoh to leave. As the demon approaches Yoh, it disappears, and he then sees Anna looking confused about the situation more than him. Muno and Matamune talk about Hao, and she mentions how he’s thinking of Hao.

Matamune then tells her he’s always thinking of Hao and has the regret of killing his own master five hundred years ago in the shaman fight. He recalls the events and mentions in tears how his feeling of respect for Asakura Hao is immense.

He then remembers how he met Hao years back as a stray cat who was abandoned and near to death. Hao saw his true essence of seeing spirits and asked him to be by his side.  Matamune then mentioned how his heart was compassionate and could tell one’s feelings.

This power was uncontrollable, and seeing the rage and resentment of others, it corroded his soul until Hao spawned a demon of his own. Hao saw humanity at its worst back then, and this is why he wanted to be the shaman king.

Muno says that even with such statements, he has to be defeated. Matamune then states how he regrets being forced to choose between justice and his master. Muno tells Matamune he needs to come to terms with his past, for he needs to attend to the matters of the present.

She referred to Anna, who has the same ability as Hao to see through someone and has grown to that same hatred. That is why Matamune needs to help Yoh open her heart and save her from a dangerous path.

Matamune narrates another poem on parting with grief and if it’s time to move ahead.
