1. Episode 9 Speculations
Episode 9 is titled “A Birdcage and Flowers.” The ‘birdcage’ must refer to the hanging cage where Kate is locked up with thorny bushes beneath it.
Adding salt to injury, the chains holding the cage keep on breaking as more soot comes out of Kate. So, in order to free Kate, Emilico needs to get rid of the bushes first.
Emilico may ask for the cutting tool from Ricky, and since Patrick is already indebted to her, they won’t refuse to help. But even with the bushes removed, Kate will still be injured if she falls from that height.
This is where Emilico’s cart filled with flowers comes into play. The flowers will act as a cushion to reduce the impact. But they should be very careful so that nothing happens to Kate’s clothes and Emilico’s face.

I. Lou, the Perfect Doll
In Episode 8, Lou and Ricky come across Shirley-sama, who was surrounded by poisonous plants. It isn’t their job to save her, so they leave her behind after a brief greeting.
When it comes to locating the masters, Lou is much smarter than any other candidate. She is well aware of all the soot patterns of the shadows, which helps her to locate Louise from far away.
In case you are still confused about the soot patterns, let me give you some examples. Kate’s soot goes straight up, John’s soot is sparkly, Patrick’s soot spreads in all directions, and Louise’s soot curves, which can be easily distinguished.
On following the curvy soot, they reach a pit where Louise was trapped. Lou uses a ladder to rescue her, and both of them are delighted to see each other again.
II. Emilico and Rum’s Duo
Meanwhile, Emilico and Rum are struggling in the concrete maze filled with living scorches. Emilico somehow keeps the scorches away with her make-shift broom, while Rum pushes the cart forward.
Soon they realize that the maze is a lot different from how it is shown on the map. It’s all because of Emilico’s presence of mind that they somehow manage to get out from there.
From there onwards, Kate and Emilico have to go on separate ways to save their respective masters. Just when Emilico was about to leave, Rym breaks down, saying that her master doesn’t love her, and she doubts if Shirley wants her to pass the debut.
Despite having limited time in her hand, Emilico comforts her with her kind words and stays beside her till she felt a little better.
III. The Birdcage
Kate is locked up in a cage hanging high above the ground with thorny bushes beneath her. Not only that, the chains holding the cage keeps on breaking as Kate emits more soot.
As we already know, Kate emits a considerably high amount of soot when she gets anxious. Edward was well aware of this fact so he designed the cage in a way that ensures her elimination.

5. About Shadows House
Shadows House is a slice of life supernatural manga by Soumatou. It was first released in Weekly Young Jump in September 2018.
The anime takes us to the mysterious, western-style mansion populated by a clan of “Shadows,” who imitate the trappings of human aristocracy. The Shadows have no faces and are attended by “Living dolls.”
The story follows Emiriko, a doll who serves Living Shadow Kate. Apart from being her maid, Emiriko is expected to become Kate’s “face” once her mistress is old enough to be introduced to the other mansion residents.
