Life is truly unpredictable! At the beginning of 2023, it seemed like this cinematic year might be one of the best for rising actor Jonathan Majors. He had scored a long-term gig at Marvel, made big money with Creed 3, and was on the fast lane to success.
But after an anonymous woman placed an alleged assault charge on Majors in March 2023, things have gone downhill for the Magazine Dreams actor. The actor was arrested on March 25, 2023, after an incident reported by said woman claimed that the actor had caused her “minor injuries to her head and neck.”
Since then, Majors has been dropped by his publicist and manager despite his lawyer’s insistence that the actor is not to be held accountable for injuries. Now Deadline confirms that The Man in My Basement, also starring fellow MCU actor Willem Dafoe, fired the Creed 3 actor.
In addition, other projects have followed the example of Nadia Latif’s film and are looking to replace the Ant-Man 3 actor in their production. This includes an ad campaign for the Texas Rangers and an Otis Redding biopic.
While these losses might be the first dominoes to fall, the biggest credit in the actor’s career has still not decided to put him out high and dry. Marvel Studios has not made any moves to fire Jonathan Majors yet, who appeared in Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and is slated to appear in several other MCU productions.
His character, Kang, is one of the most critical characters in Phase 5 of the MCU. Thus, it is understandable that Marvel is waiting until the entire legal process is complete before making their final decision about Jonathan’s fate.
Majors has already shot most of his crucial scenes in the upcoming season 2 of Loki, which presents yet another fallback in the awaited instalment’s release schedule.
The actor is due to appear at court on May 8, where the allegations will be inspected thoroughly, so we might get an answer about his fate in the MCU soon. But for now, Marvel Studios has had “zero conversations” about recasting Kang and replacing Majors with new talent.
But the MCU gig remains only a part of the list of Majors’ upcoming projects, and more will follow and replace him if the allegations aren’t resolved soon. What do you make of Hollywood’s boycott against the actor? Let us know in the comments below!
