After reports stated that Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is being roped in for Marvel series Secret Invasion, fans couldn’t be happier for the actress who is already attached to other popular franchises such as Star Wars as well.
The actress in a recent interview confirmed her casting for the project and revealed what made her choose to come on board for the much-talked-about MCU series.
Secret Invasion is expected to draw inspiration from the 2008 comic storyline of the same name, and center around MCU veterans Nick Fury and Talos as they deal with an invasion of shape-shifting Skrulls who have infiltrated all aspects of life on Earth.
Initially, there were rumors that Marvel Studios was interested in developing a series that focused on the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director, and there were assumptions that it might have been about his much younger years.
However, during Disney’s Investor Day in December 2020, MCU architect, Kevin Feige, announced the Secret Invasion TV series.
While the rest of MCU newbies have not said anything about their involvement with Secret Invasion, Clarke now confirms that she’s indeed part of the cast
ComicBook.com recently got a chance to chat with Clarke about her upcoming Image Comics miniseries M.O.M.: Mother of Madness. During the interview Clarke was asked about what drew her to Secret Invasion, and to Marvel as a whole.
“I just think what they’re doing right now is so exciting and so cool, and so on the cutting edge of it. I feel like they’re like the Apple of this world,”

“To be part of that family feels like, ‘Oh my god, I’m in the cool kid crowd. That’s so cool.’ Honestly speaking, the people that are making this are what pushed me over the line to really wanting to do it. I just think that everyone’s heart and heads are in the right place with this one.”

Clarke’s comment about how Marvel Studios’ current plans are cutting edge is very interesting as the MCU is going through a transition phase after the Infinity Saga wrapped up. As an official member of the franchise, she also feels really cool.
For what it’s worth, the universe having a lot of incoming high-profile actors like Clarke for Secret Invasion, is an indication that there are great projects lined up for the universe as it continues to draw top-notch talent.

Secret Invasion is an upcoming television show on Disney+. It is based on the Marvel comic of the same name and will be a part of Marvel’s Phase Five.
The show will focus on Nick Fury and the alien race of the Skrulls, who have been infiltrating the Earth for years.
Cast members include Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, Colbie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Ben Mendelsohn, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, and Kingsley Ben-Adir. It will be released on June 21, 2023.
