The second film in the Sword Art Online: Progressive series is already out in Japanese theaters, while the rest of the world awaits its release in their region. The wait is over now as some of the dates have been revealed.
Crunchyroll and Aniplex US announced on Tuesday that the second installment, Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of a Deep Night, will release in the US and Canada on February 3, 2023.
The film will also release in the UK and Ireland on February 1, 2023; followed by Australia and New Zealand on February 2, 2023.
This leaves only Europe and Latin America, for which the dates will be announced soon. The movie will be released in both Japanese (With English Subtitles), and English dub.
Scherzo of a Deep Knight was originally released in Japan on October 22 this year. The cast members from the previous film have reprised their roles. As of December 6, the movie has earned 1.076 billion yen ($7.97 million) in revenue.
The Progressive series by Reki Kawahara retells Kirito’s adventures in Aincrad in an expanded form. Aria of a Starless Night, the first film adaptation, was released in October 2021. A-1 Pictures has produced both films.

Sword Art Online -Progressive- Scherzo of Deep Night is the sequel to the Sword Art Online -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night anime film. It is the second part of the Sword Art Online franchise’s -Progressive- film series.
The film adapts the novel’s Aincrad arc in more detail with extra footage and content. Scherzo of a Deep Night is set in Aincrad’s dangerous fifth floor that Kirito and his gang have to clear.
Two Major guilds – The Aincrad Liberation Squad and the Dragon Knights Brigade enter into a conflict that engulfs Kirito and Asuna. Elsewhere, a mysterious figure is pulling the strings.
