The new Captain America and the Winter Soldier’s relationship seems to have hit a tiny bump as Sebastian Stan reveals Anthony Mackie has been ghosting him recently.
The two made fans fall in love with a blooming new bromance when they co-starred in Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier last year. Everyone loved their chemistry on as well as off-screen.
The pair has always been supportive of each other’s careers ever since, having only praises for when they achieve something big. So, it has become quite the ritual to ask one about the other whenever they’re promoting their individual projects.
Now almost a year later, it seems like Stan and Mackie aren’t exactly the best of buddies the internet adored so much as they haven’t texted each other in months.
Sebastian Stan Interview:
The surprising reveal came when Stan was asked about Mackie during an interview with Yahoo Entertainment while promoting his new thriller film, Fresh, with Daisy Edgar-Jones. Stan, in a tad bit dramatic tone, stated,
“Anthony hasn’t returned a text of mine since November of 2021. We’re taking a break. I sent him a picture of my Christmas tree, and I got nothing in return, so….”
That’s the definition of ghosting (and it hurts), but hey, maybe Mackie’s just a busy man seeing how the responsibility of Captain America falls on his shoulders now. Speaking of which, Stan added that he had nothing but love for Mackie.
“You have to understand I love him. That’s the real problem. I love him. I actually miss him. I’m very excited for that movie, and I think he’s going to be great. He’s going to add a whole different feel to that idea. It kind of reminds me a little bit of Rocky, in some ways.”
Marvel wasted no time announcing Captain America 4 with Mackie right after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s finale. The film will mark the actor’s debut as the new Cap and is expected to release sometime in 2024.
As for Stan and Edgar-Jones’ Fresh – the thriller-horror is now available for streaming on Hulu.
