The Mystery Inc. gang has taken on many forms since its debut in 1969, but arguably its most memorable appearance was the beloved 2002 film Scooby-Doo live-action film.
In the live-action film adaptation of Hanna-Barbera’s classic cartoon, Matthew Lillard played Shaggy Rogers alongside Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini, and Neil Fanning as Scooby-Doo.
The screenplay for Scooby-Doo was written by James Gunn and directed by Raja Gosnell.
Now, in celebration of the film’s 20th anniversary, Scooby-Doo star Matthew Lillard is hosting the Mystery Machine on Airbnb, offering fans a chance to spend the night in it!
Mystery Machine appears all set for a groovy stay in Malibu, California, that commences with a greeting via virtual reality from Lillard himself. Airbnb has announced that bookings for the iconic van will open on June 16, with Lilliard as the host.

When asked about his views on the Mystery Machine stay, Lilliard exclaimed:
“I’ve been channeling Shaggy since the live-action adaptation in 2002, and he’s been a part of me ever since, I can’t wait to welcome guests into the world of the Mystery Inc. gang as their Airbnb Host and give them a summer vacation they’ll never forget…monsters not included!”
Each stay is for two people and the accommodation includes a Scooby-Doo viewing, all-you-can-eat snacks, and mystery games.
As fun as the stay sounds, the Mystery Machine is open for one-night stays only on June 24, 25, and 26, so only a select few lucky fans will have the opportunity.
Other Scooby-Doo fans can admire Lillard’s iconic performance as Shaggy in The Scooby-Doo live-action movie, on HBO Max.
