The cancellation of multiple Warner Bros. Discovery projects started late last summer and only came to an end in January 2023. Some films are still being cancelled but now Scooby-Doo! And Krypto Too! an animated movie directed by Cecilia Aranovich Hamilton, has been leaked online.
The film was scrapped for tax write-downs on other WBD projects, and it is not the only Scooby-Doo project to get the axe.
Scoob! Holiday Haunt and Scooby-Doo and the Haunted High Rise, two other animated projects, were canceled recently. The Scooby-Doo/DC crossover film was leaked on the same day when the news about the cancellation of Scooby-Doo! and the Mystery Pups came out.
With so many Scooby-Doo projects slashed, fans of the nostalgic series and character have taken to complaining, making me wonder if this was the work of a disgruntled fan.
Apart from that, the leak sprouts an even bigger concern on Warner Bros. Discovery’s part since the films that were scrapped for the tax write-offs weren’t supposed to see the light of day. Any profitability, whether tangible or not, would force them with a suit or, worse, the cancellation of the write-offs.
Another problem that has arisen with the following leak is the situation this puts the media company in when it comes to other DC and Scooby-Doo projects that were canceled. Leslie Grace’s Batgirl was one of the films which sprung considerable disappointment when WBD put it on the canceled list.
Now that Scooby-Doo! And Krypto Too! has reached the public, the demand for Batgirl’s release might also be made, putting the organization between a rock and a hard place. But I’d advise you not to raise your hopes to see Barbara Gordon protecting Gotham City anytime soon.
