Sword Art Online Progressive – Aria of a Starless Night premiered in Japanese theaters on October 30, 2021.
The film topped the box office charts on its debut weekend, so it looks like the change of protagonist from Kirito to Asuna has been well-received by fans.
With a brand new character, and a plot covering Asuna’s background, Aria of a Starless Night ticks all the right boxes. Yet, just because a movie has already been released doesn’t mean that no more trailers or visuals can be revealed.
A new visual and trailer have been released for Sword Art Online The Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night.
Don’t expect to watch this trailer and escape without being spoiled because the PV is packed with the most high-tension scenes from the movie.
The trailer shows how Asuna and Mito started playing SAO together and got stuck in its world. The goal-oriented Asuna that we know was once a cheerful teenager, and her journey has been shown in intricate details.
The new visual also focuses on Asuna, Mito, and Kirito.

Both Funimation and Crunchyroll stream SAO, so it’s only a matter of time before the movie is licensed for release in the USA.
Although some parts of the movie were like a recap of SAO season one, it still had plenty of original scenes to keep me going.
Kirito’s screen time has been mercilessly axed, and I think that makes the film even more refreshing as Asuna and her skills and mindset are finally getting the spotlight they deserve.
About Sword Art Online
Sword Art Online is a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by Abec.
The series occurs in the near future and focuses on the protagonist “Kirito” Kirigaya Kazuto and Asuna Yuuki as they play through various virtual reality MMORPG worlds.
At the launch of the game, 10,000 people had connected themselves to the virtual reality of Sword Art Online. The plot takes a twist when people realize that they can’t quit the game.
Protagonist Kirito, a pro gamer and was present for the beta launch of SAO, starts planning to clear levels as soon as possible. Throughout his quest to finish the game, he meets many friends and also a love interest, Asuna.
The plot and the whole premise of the show are remarkably unique and quite believable in some futuristic sense.
