SAO Alicization War of Underworld Episode 23: Release Date, Preview, Watch

Fans have been left in awe with how the latest episode ended. 

Sword Art Online Alicization War Of Underworld has finally reached the last episode before the season’s finale and viewers could not be more hooked on to the show.

The current episode hits most of the key points of the series and answers a lot of initially unanswered questions.

The episode begins with a press conference held by Rath where Dr. Rinko introduces the world’s first true artificial intelligence: Alice Synthesis Thirty.

We also learn that Higa creates an intense scene towards the end of the episode by revealing that he made a copy of Underworld’s Kirito!

1. Episode 23 Release Date

Episode 23 of War of Underworld will be released on Saturday, September 19th, 2020, at 8:00 am PDT.

The name of the next episode is “New World”. As the season’s finale, Sword Art Online has left the best for last.

As the title suggests, in the upcoming episode we will get to witness a new world in which artificial human fluctlights become a part of the real world.

No, episode 23 of the Sword Art Online III Season 3 anime will be released as per its schedule; thus, no such delay is announced.

The anime comes out weekly every Saturday.

2. Episode 23 Preview

The preview for the next Episode 23, titled “New World”, shows Alice in a purple dress looking sorrowfully out of the window of a high-storeyed building. The scene then shifts to Rinko attempting to call Kirito.

As the finale of the season, this upcoming episode will shed light on the new world where artificial intelligence must now be given human rights and interact with the people of the real world.

3. Recap of Episode 22

I. Rath’s Press Conference

The episode opens with Rath’s press conference where Dr. Rinko announces the birth of the world’s first true artificial intelligence.

We are then introduced to fluctlight Alice Synthesis Thirty. During the conference, the press asks several questions to Dr. Rinko regarding Alice’s functioning and purpose.

A journalist questions what makes Alice different from the other artificial intelligence in today’s world.

Dr. Rinko responds by saying that the consciousness that exists within Alice’s photonic brain is not a program with binary code that can be re-written and essentially functions like a human brain.

However, Alice will not harm another soul unless she is threatened first.

This is what makes her categorically different from other AI. When asked about the future of fluctlights in the world, Alice portrays herself as a human giving assurance that she means no harm and saying that the future will open up to a world where fluctlights and humans will co-exist and even marry each other.

II. Kirito and Asuna Awaken

As the press conference goes on, Kirito and Asuna awaken after spending 200 years in the Underworld.

Kirito asks Higa to go ahead and delete the memories of the last two centuries since the start of the maximum-acceleration phase.

Alice who was in the middle of the Rath press conference leaves abruptly to be by Kirito’s side as soon as she learns that he is awake.

III. Kirito’s Plan to Save The Underworld

After Kirito asks Higa to delete the memories of the Underworld, Higa manages to secretly make a copy of the 200-year-old Kirito.

Higa tells Kirito’s copy that he was unable to make a copy of Asuna.

Kirito later responds that he has a plan to save the Underworld but first he must interact with Akihiko Kayaba’s copy for it to come to fruition.

Higa then wonders if he may have opened pandora’s box by making copies of both Akihiko and Kirito.

However, he is curious to know what would happen and agrees to help Kirito with his plan.

Sword Art Online is a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by Abec.

The series occurs in the near future and focuses on the protagonist “Kirito” Kirigaya Kazuto and Asuna Yuuki as they play through various virtual reality MMORPG worlds.

Sword Art Online, aired in Japan between July and December 2012, followed by its second and third season along with a movie, titled Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale.
