Sakamoto Days Episode 8: Anime Vs. Manga

Episode 8 of Sakamoto Days was quite the banger, considering how the series is progressing well into its first major arc. We got a good look at the Order members: Osaragi and Shishiba. We got to see a bit of Shin’s past and his relation to the leader of the lab. We even got to see the start of a major fight between Sakamoto and the head of the enemy.

TMS Entertainment has done a great job with the adaption, as always. However, we still think it’s worth noticing the differences between the anime and manga. In this article, we will highlight the difference between the anime and the manhwa and what implications these differences have concerning the progress of the anime.

Lu meets Asakura in the Cellar

The previous episode of Sakamoto Days revealed Asakura, the head of the Lab, who was also locked in the cellar along with Lu. In episode 8 of Sakamoto Days, Asakura realizes that Lu and some relationship with Shin, and he then goes on to tell her about Shin’s past and how he got his psychic abilities. This was quite a tear-jerker for both Lu and the man who kidnapped Shin.

It’s worth mentioning that the timeline in which Asakura narrated this tale is slightly different from that of the anime. In the manga, Lu had her interaction with Asakura while Sakamoto and Shin were fighting the Dinosaur skeleton outside of the lab. However, the anime had this meeting while Sakamoto and Shin were fighting Mad Horiguchi.

Shishiba and Osaragi Slaughter Many Henchmen

One of the major scenes in episode 8 of Sakamoto Days was the one where the Order members, Osaragi and Shishiba, made their grand entrance. The basement of the lab was practically a pool of blood made by the duo, which prompted a visit from the leader of the enemy organization, Kashima. Shishiba tried to determine their relationship with Slur, enraged Kashima, and tried to kill him only to realize that he was a type of humanoid. Finally, Sakamoto made his appearance in the scene, after which Osaragi and Shishiba took their leave.

It was very clear that this portion of the anime was adapted really faithfully from the manga, with nothing added or subtracted from chapters 26 and 27. Kashima may have spoken a bit more in the manga compared to the anime, but that difference is negligible. We will see more interaction between Kashima and Sakamoto in episode 9 of the anime, so stay tuned, as we’ll be covering that as soon as it releases.

Heisuke Made His Appearance to Save Shin

The latest episode began with Heisuke and Hana deciding to find out where Sakamoto and the others went. This event actually happened in chapter 20 of the manga, which was actually supposed to take place right after Sakamoto and Shin left the shop. This scene was excluded from the previous episodes and was added to the latest episode.

Shin was fighting against Seba, who was giving him a really hard time. Seba was told that capturing Shin, dead or alive, would give him a huge bounty, so he was extra motivated to have his job done. Seba’s invisibility proved to be a huge pain in the neck for Shin, as he could predict the attack, but couldn’t dodge it as he couldn’t see its direction. However, he managed to get some of his blood on Seba, which made him visible for a while. This was enough for Heisuke, who managed to reach the place in the nick of time to save the day.
