Sakamoto Days Episode 6 was released on Saturday, February 8, 2025. It finally introduced us to Heisuke Mashimo, one of the main supporting characters of the show.
Heisuke Mashimo is a very likable character, and the anime did justice to bring him to life by animating his quirky personality. Even though he is a deft assassin, he is a crybaby with a soft heart, just like Sakamoto.
This article will review episode 6 and compare it with the manga. Keep reading until the end to recap.
Sakamoto Days Episode 6: Anime vs. Manga Comparision
Sakamoto Days Episode 6 has been adapted from chapters 17-18 of the Manga. It has been quite loyal to the source, with no significant differences, just a few tweaks in the anime to bring Heisuke’s story to life.

I. Heisuke’s Introduction
The episode introduces Heisuke by revealing his financial situation, which is hilarious because he spends most of it on his beloved bird, Piisuke. He believes taking out Sakamoto and redeeming the bounty will fix his life.
In the next shot, we are taken to Sakamoto’s shop, where Shin Asakura and Lu Shaotang are working on fixing the damages caused by the assassins. Here, Shin pulls out a poster about a paintball tournament with a cash prize.
A minor addition here: The anime reveals the poster, whereas the manga shows it vaguely.

We are then introduced to Heisuke, who seems pretty gullible because he can’t recognize Sakamoto due to the change in his experience. There is a comedic exchange between the characters in the shop as Shin convinces him that he is at the wrong store. Heisuke proceeds to leave.
However, he realizes that he is in deep water as he won’t be earning the bounty anytime soon and uses his pouty eyes to win Shin and Lou over to give him steaming buns; this scene was animated with more frames than the manga.
II. Heisuke’s Tent Scene
We are taken to Heusuke’s night arrangement, where he sets up a flimsy tent and talks about making it big with Piisuke. There is a flashback to his past, where he is fired, and his colleagues call him a failure, as he is only good at being a sniper.
Things take a spin when the harsh wind blows his tent, this scene has been exaggerated in the anime.
However, the silver lining is that a poster concerning the paintball tournament blows right into him due to the wind, and he begins planning to buy a condo for himself and Piisuke.

III. The Paintball Tournament
The next day begins at the tournament, where Heisuke ends up teaming with Sakamoto and Shin as they need to form a team to participate. This gets exciting as we have three hitmen teamed up among normal citizens.
This excitement accelerates to a peak when Lu accidentally reveals that Sakamoto is the man Heisuke has been looking for. This clears up the misconception even when Shin tries to cover it up.
Although this part has been animated slightly differently than the manga, it conveys the same message.
From this scene onwards, the anime adapts chapter 18 of the manga to the dot, covering Heisuke’s attempts to take out Sakamoto using ricocheting bullets; his precision even impresses Sakamoto.

In between, we are taken back to Heisuke’s past, where his talent as a sniper is rejected as the only thing he is good at. We see how he failed at everything in life, except for this skill of being a sniper, but then people fail him as they aren’t satisfied with only one skill.

Sakamoto and his team won the tournament, and in the end, Heisuke cried again, believing that he sucks at being the only thing he was formerly good at since Sakamoto defeated him like it was a cakewalk.
However, Sakamoto lifted his spirits by telling him that Heisuke was one of the best and most deft assassins he had ever encountered, ending their interaction positively.
IV. Extra scenes
There was an extra scene at the end of the anime, which wasn’t in chapters 17-18 of the manga, where Aoi appreciates Sakamoto for donating the money he won at the tournament to fix the town after the ruckus caused by Heisuke.
There is another scene where Shin reads Aoi’s thoughts, and we get to see how Sakamoto melted and fell in love with Aoi, which is interrupted comedically by Sakamoto’s thoughts, threatening Shin to stop reading his wife’s thoughts.
