2. Sakamoto Days Episode 1 and 2 Recap
Episode 1 of Sakamoto Days started out with a brief introduction to Sakamoto, one of the most powerful and feared assassins of all time. He fell in love with a woman while in the prime of his career as an assassin, so he got married to her, formed a family, dropped his occupation as an assassin, and ultimately fattened up. Several years later, he was approached by one of his underlings, Shin, who asked him to return to his profession.
Shin is a psychic who can read minds and memories as long as they are near him. Shin had received orders from his organization to bring Sakamoto back to the organization, and if he couldn’t, he was ordered to assassinate him. However, spending time with Sakamoto made him realize that Sakamoto had left the organization because he cherished the life he had with his family and wanted to protect them. He chose to respect his wishes, headed back to the organization, refused to kill Sakamoto, and asked them to take his life instead.
Their boss agreed to this, but he planned to murder Sakamoto after they killed Shin. Shin read his mind and immediately turned on them. This led to an all-out battle between Shin and the organization. He fared well in the fight as he could read everyone’s moves and effectively dodged them while providing apt counterattacks. However, he was struck with a bullet in the leg and couldn’t fight anymore. Thankfully, due to a tracker that Sakamoto planted on Shin, he showed up right on time and defeated the entire group quickly, with minimal effort and blood spills.
After this, Sakamoto invited Shin to be a staff in his convenience store, and gave him good pay as well. Shin readily accepted, and fit in really well in his new job. Episode 2 of Sakamoto Days went straight into Shin’s new life as an assistant in the convenience store. He even assisted Sakamoto as he went to purchase supplies outside. On such an instance, they bumped into a woman who was being chased by many thugs. Sakamoto who couldn’t bear to see such injustice immediately went to her rescue, and then fled the place with her when reinforcements appeared.
The girl Sakamoto saved was Xiaotang Lu, the daughter of a mafia group. She was being chased by another mafia group because she possessed the key to a vault that he parents died protecting, her refusal to submit something that’s even more valuable than her parents lives deeply moved Sakamoto, so he decided to help her out. Meanwhile, the mafia group sent their strongest assassins on Xiao Lu to capture her, and kill Sakamoto and Shin.
This led to a direct face off between the two brutal assassins, Sakamoto and Shin. As usual Sakamoto fought the assassins with a lot of leeway. He even used normal kitchen utensils as weapons, so that he inflicted minimal damage on them. This was a part of the promise that he made to his wife before their marriage. After utterly defeating the two assassins, Sakamoto, Shin and Xiao Lu headed to the mafia quarters, where Xiao Lu confronted the mafia boss, and beat him into a pulp for good measure.
3. What To Expect In Episode 3 of Sakamoto Days?
Since episode 2 of Sakamoto Days ended with Sakamoto saving Xiao Lu, just like he did with Shin, we can expect him to hire her to the store as well. As the daughter of a mafia family that had her entire family massacred, she truly deserves the laid back lifestyle that Sakamoto can offer her, and this is the healing trope that the household has.
Episode 3 of Sakamoto Days should mostly be focused on character development and world-building, so we don’t expect to see much of the main plot of the anime just yet. Regardless, the anime should still be just as much of a banger even without this.
