In an interview with PEOPLE, Stranger Things 4 actress Sadie Sink, who plays Max, talked about the upcoming season, calling it more bizarre than the previous ones. She also addressed the scene where Max floats in the air (spoiler—it might not be how you expected it).
Since the Stranger Things Season 4 trailer was released, a significant point of fan theories has been Max’s connection to the Upside Down.
In one scene, Max levitates as Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), and Steve (Joe Keery) back away in surprise. All of this happens when the group mourns the death of Billy Hargrove, Max’s stepbrother, at his grave.
Sink did her best not to spoil the scene but instead shared that the entire episode would be “wild.”
I can’t say anything about the floating. That’s a wild episode though.
Meanwhile, the 20-year-old actress also confirmed one thing that viewers were sure of—the fourth season of Stranger Things is pulling all big guns out. Sink talked about the grand scale of the season, saying,
It’s the most bizarre season we’ve ever had. Just the scale of it is out of this world.
With Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) being stripped away from her powers, it now remains to be seen if Max ends up with some sort of magical powers.
Stranger Things 4 is diving into a darker theme, what with mysterious people warning them about a war and Harper training to kill creatures in a concentration camp.
Moreover, the audience will finally see the main villain. With the boss finally appearing in the season, it’ll be interesting to see how the now-teenager friend group survives and protects their loved ones.
Netflix renewed the show for a fifth season and announced that it would be the last. Meanwhile, Stranger Things is all set to return bigger, better, and more bizarre with Season four on May 27.
