The Legend of Super Normal Pref. Chiba Anime to Premiere in January 2024

The official website for the fourth season of The Legend of Super Normal City Kashiwa anime announced that the anime The Legend of Super Normal Pref. Chiba will premiere on Tokyo MX in January 2024.

The website also revealed a new key visual for the anime.

The anime stars Misaki Ikeda as Ako Shikawa, Aisa Mashio as Chiyo Yasuura,  Moa Tsukino as Tega-chan. Additional cast members include Yūri Kinoshita as Usaki-chan, Yume Shinohara as Uno Shikawa, Shiori Tani as Kiri Hashiratani, Reicheru Ōkuma as Kunugi Nojibe, and Arisa Noto as Mito Hamajo. 

The Kashiwa, Chiba-based public interest group Dekiru Machi Project is credited for planning the project. Frontier Works is producing the anime, with Kadokawa credited for production assistance. Hiro Nakamichi is returning as the character designer for the series.

The Legend of Super Normal Pref. Chiba was first announced to be in production in 2020. The series has been running a crowdfunding campaign since January 1, which has raised  710,000 yen of its 1 million yen goal as of January 11.

The surreal gag anime follows the daily life of middle school girls and mysterious creatures in the eccentric city of Kashiwa. The fourth season will further expand its focus and will take place in the entire prefecture of Chiba, which is just east of Tokyo.

The first season of shorts debuted in 2016, and the second season premiered in 2019. Both seasons were released on YouTube. The third season, however, was the first season of the series to premiere on television. It premiered on Chiba TV in July 2020.

The third season raised about 2 million yen (about 20,000 USD) in crowdfunding from 225 patrons by offering the patrons such rewards as a chance to appear in the anime itself.
