The first of AMD’s Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU-powered Mini PCs will soon be available in the market and will offer incredible performance within an SSF powerhouse. This Mini PC will compete against the Intel Tiger Lake-powered Mini PCs such as the NUCs.
This particular AMD-powered Mini PC is a collaboration between MoreFine Focus and Minisforum. It has been titled the strongest Mini PC ever and could feature at a base price of $500, with higher prices for better configurations.
This will be the first Mini PC to have an AMD Ryzen 5000H series processor, a very capable CPU. The creators have also dubbed it the most powerful Mini Workstation based on AMD CPUs.
The entire system will be packaged in an aluminum-magnesium alloy shell and feature an ultra-light and wear-resistant surface.
Inside, we will have a Mini-STX motherboard with the embedded AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU, dual DDR4 SODIMM slots, dual M.2 2280 NVMe SSD slots, a 2.5” HDD (SATA 3) slot, and an M.2 WiFi/BT port (NGFF). The CPU is attached to the read end and has a cooling fan attached to it.
The chassis has vents on three sides for adequate airflow and heat dissipation. MoreFine Focus is using a pure copper mute cooling fan which allows for greater airflow and less noise output. The entire chassis measures 50x145x40mm and weighs 1000 grams.
In terms of I/O, the Mini PC will have 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, a single USB Type-C port, power input, DisplayPort, 2 RJ45 LAN ports (2.5GbE/1GbE), HDMI 2.0, along with a 3.5mm audio jack.
The AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX used in this Mini PC has 8 cores and 16 threads. The processor features 16MB of L3 cache and 4MB of L2 cache. Its base clock speed is 3.30GHz and can be boosted to 4.70GHz.
The chip also includes an enhanced Vega GPU with 8 compute units or 512 cores clocked at 2100MHz. It also has overclocking support, a first for AMD in the notebook segment. Only time will tell how the overclock will function in a Mini PC.
We don’t have any official word on the availability, but we can expect it to be available pretty soon.
