Ryan Reynolds is a marketing genius. Not in the sense that he handles all of his films’ promotions, but in the sense that people watch anything and everything the guy posts.
In the spirit of the holiday season, the actor has put out an iPhoto Album montage to promote his holiday musical Spirited, which is set to come out during the 2022 holiday season.
Reynolds’ YouTube channel is very much like Pandora’s box but instead with delightful surprises. You can never have any idea what he puts out, but it’s always a good surprise nonetheless.
The video isn’t exactly a “normal” trailer, but a collage that takes us behind the scenes of the film’s production. But then again, the film isn’t like your regular hallmark holiday musical either.
The Apple TV+ film (which explains the iPhoto Album plug) stars Reynolds alongside Will Ferrell in a “modern-day musical retelling” of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
As is the case with anything Reynolds posts, the video features some hilarious shots, including a series of text exchanges between the two co-stars, Reynolds onstage at a meeting of the National Association of Christmas Tree Growers, and some mid-covid rehearsal photos.
Written and directed by Sean Anders and John Morris, the film’s cast includes Octavia Spencer, Sunita Mari, Patrick Page, Aimee Carrero, Joe Tippett, Marlow Barkley, and Jen Tullock.
The film started production in July and wrapped up filming in October. Reynolds had posted a picture on the first day of shooting back in July, calling Ferrell one of his “comedy idols.”
In September, Reynolds also showed off his singing chops when he posted a cover of MIKA’s Grace Kelly, with Ferrell chiming in to lend his high notes. Of course, the duo’s true potential will be revealed when they sing in the musical, but the tiny clip surely reassures fans.
(Seriously, is there anything Reynolds can’t do?)
