‘Rurouni Kenshin’, also known as ‘Samurai X’ in North America, will make its comeback in a month. The series was known for its unique combination of classic samurai and wild west themes. However, it did not feature revenge or a coming-of-age tale.
The plot had a central focus on atonement and love for a former assassin who slaughtered many people once.
On Sunday, the official website for the 2023 anime adaptation of ‘Rurouni Kenshin’ released a fifth promo video and a new key visual. It also revealed a new cast member, the opening theme song artist, and that it will run for two consecutive cours. ‘Rorouni Kenshin’ will premiere on July 7.
The video mainly shows the protagonist Kenshin Himura as he wanders and fights his opponents. Other characters like Kaoru, Yahiko, Sanosuke, and Megumi are also shown but only for a few moments. In this video, Hajime Saito is also shown for the first time.
The latter half of the video previews the opening song “Hiten” in the background which is performed by Ayase and R-Shitei. It was previously revealed that Reol is performing the ending song “Kissaski”.

Back when the original anime series aired in 1996, ‘Rurouni Kenshin’ became one of the fan favorites. I hope the new series also does the same for all those who are unfamiliar with it. The trailers look convincing, so it might be worth the wait.
