2. Rurouni Kenshin Episode 4 Recap
After Saitou came into the picture at the end of episode 3, we got to see Misao and Saitou watch Himura effortlessly killing all of Shishio’s soldiers. After his fight ended, Saitou’s rudeness irked Misao and Eiji (the young boy). After this, when they decided to bring Eiji’s parents’ dead bodies to the ground to pay their respects, the villagers refused out of fear of Shishio. Saitou proceeded to say they had their hands tied trying just to survive, so one can’t expect the villagers to have a shred of dignity or honor.
Himura didn’t let the villagers stop him, though. He went ahead and freed the dead bodies and swore to defeat Shishio. Both he and Saitou headed towards Shishio’s quarters after this.
For whatever reason, we got to see Shishio taking a bath in his hot spring after this. He has a woman tend to his every need here, and his assistant, Soujiro, also informed him about Saitou and Himura’s arrival. Shishio asked Soujiro to have them escorted to him.
On reaching Shishio’s abode, Saitou and Himura confronted him about his actions and why he decided to subjugate Shingetsu village. He replied that he was making his own military base in order to restore violence to the world and overthrow the weak and submissive Meiji government. Himura found this reason to be quite selfish and decided not to let Shishio spill any more blood for futile reasons.
Before Himura got to Shishio, he had to go through Senkaku, the man who killed Eiji’s brother. Himura easily evaded most of his heavy attacks and kept him at bay with the intention of tiring him down. In the end, Senkaku ended up breaking his leg.
After Himura took down Senkaku, Himura challenged Shishio, and asked him to take his sword. The episode concluded here.
3. What Will Happen In Episode 5?
Since Himura challenged Shishio and Himura had already taken down Shishio’s subordinate, he is going to have to face Himura now. Although the outcome of their battle can’t be predicted so easily, we can still expect them to win, especially since Saitou has Himura’s back covered.
