Rurouni Kenshin 2023 Episode 2: Release Date, Speculation, Watch Online

The protagonists meet each other as the epic tale returns in episode 1 of Rurouni Kenshin 2023, titled “Kenshin: Himura Battosai.”

The classic anime is back with a bang, and this time, it looks better than ever. The animation and voice acting felt so amazing. The action was well-animated, and it was a wholesome experience through and through.

The story starts with Kaoru Kamiya meeting Rurouni, a wandering swordsman. They both together take down a dangerous trickster and his little brother, who are trying to take over Kaoru’s dojo.

1. Episode 2 Speculations

Kenshin and Kaoru will meet a new samurai in episode 2 of Rurouni Kenshin 2023 titled “Tokyo Samurai Yahiko Myojin.”

I am so excited for the journey ahead and can’t wait to see more of the epic manga in the new art style. Kenshin will try to learn how to live in the town. All this will account for some hilarious and wholesome moments.

Meanwhile, we will also meet another main character who goes by the name of Yahiko Myojin. He is one stubborn brat who will later become friends with Kenshin and Kaoru. Why has he come to the town, and what is his backstory? We will see all that in the next episode.

3. Episode 1 Recap

Hajime Saito prepares to slay Hitokiri Battosai after the latter slices a number of soldiers. The situation is still not fully clear when the narrative shifts to sometime ahead.

A girl tries to stop Hitokiri late at night because he is carrying a sword which is not allowed. He shows her that his sword is just a dummy, and he is just Rurouni. Suddenly, they hear lots of cries and find a Battosai killing policemen.

The killer claims to be Hitokiri Battosai. The girl jumps in to fight him but gets injured, and Rurouni saves her. He runs away when more policemen show up. The girl wants to go after him, but Rurouni stops her from doing so and takes her away.

Rurouni goes to her dojo and finds her name to be Kaoru Kamiya. She tells him that Battosai is using her sword style and dojo name Kamiya Kasshin-Ryu, to wreak destruction, ruining their dojo’s reputation.

She wants to kill the man because her father created the sword style, and she doesn’t want it to get ruined like that. Rurouni tells her not to be reckless and leaves.

A few days later, Kaoru finds Rurouni caught by police. Her servant helps him get rid of them. Rurouni tells her that he has some errands to do in the town, while Kaoru tells him that she has got information about Battosai being in another town.

Kaoru apologizes to him for being rude the other day. He takes his leave. He goes to a place where he asks for the head of the dojo. The men inside surround him as they learn that he knows about Battosai.

Meanwhile, Kehei, Kaoru’s servant, tells her that the paperwork for selling the dojo has been completed. It is revealed that the Battosai is Gohei Hiruma, Kehei’s little brother.

They surround the place and forcefully take Kaoru’s sign on legal papers. Just then, Rurouni comes in. Kehei orders his guys to kill him, but he immediately topples them all.

Seeing his speed and strength, they realize he is the real Hitokiri Battosai. Gohei goes in to attack him but gets defeated in one blow. Rurouni takes the paper from Kehei and tears it.

As he is about to leave, Kaoru tells him to stay to help her regain her dojo’s name. He is against the idea. She asks him to tell her at least his name. He announces that his name is Kenshin Himura.

He agrees to stay with her for some time, as he doesn’t know where he will go next.

Rurouni Kenshin is a manga series written and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1994 to 1999. The 2023 series will be a reboot of the 1996 series, re-adapting the original manga.

In the Meiji era, 11th year, Kenshin Himura is a wandering samurai who was once feared as an assassin. However, he has taken a vow to never kill people and atone for his crimes.

He comes across Kaoru Kamiya, the head of a small dojo that is on the verge of shutting down, because of a man who is killing in the name of her dojo.
