Old classics remade for new console generations are all the rage these days. With old-gen staples like Dead Space, Diablo, Final Fantasy, Mass Effect, and even the comparatively younger The Last of Us seeing remasters, it is clear that nostalgia is a major selling point for gamers.
The games mentioned above come from some of the well-reputed studios on the planet. Therefore, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that Bethesda, a studio that holds its own in that list of grade-A developers, might be setting up a subsidiary that will work solely on remaking its older games.
The update comes from YouTuber Skullzi, who has a history of breaking Bethesda-related news. Skullzi neglected to mention his sources but did outline that this is a rumor that they heard from a “couple random but unrelated places.”
A cursory look at the responses under the tweets above should tell you that fans love the idea of remade Bethesda titles.
The studio has numerous classic titles under its belt and should have no problem seeing multiple successful releases if they go ahead with a remake-focused studio.
Additionally, it will be interesting to see how these potential remakes integrate with Xbox consoles as the studio is now a part of Microsoft’s roster.
In fact, it won’t be surprising if it turns out that the tech giant itself is financing this studio.
In other news concerning the studio, Skullzi also shared on Twitter that a company called Artifact is working on a Skyrim documentary for its 10th anniversary.
Initially, the YouTuber mistook Artifact as the new studio’s name but then corrected themselves on Twitter.
