The ‘Case of the Observatory Murder’ has come to a close. Ron and Toto successfully deduced the café latte murder mystery as well. Toto has acquired a new helpful connection in the form of the crime reporter Monki.
Ron might work on his own Bloody Training Incident mystery now that they are back. However, since Monki is now also in the picture, she might bring our detective duo new cases. In any case, Ron and Toto will be sleuthing in the coming future as well.
3. Recap of Episode 10
Episode 10 of ‘Ron Kamonohashi’ is titled “The Case of the Poisoned Latte”. Ron and Toto are back from the observatory island and are back to their daily lives. However, Ron is acting too nonchalant, much to Toto’s surprise. The boat carrying the observatory murderer sank and everyone on it is missing.
Ron claims it was not an accident. He is sure it was done by the same people who are after him. However, Ron believes that panicking will not help anyone. He gives Toto a souvenir he got for Amamiya and tells him this will surely make her happy.
Toto gifts Amamiya the souvenir, who discards it to the side in favor of giving him a job. Toto is sent to the conference room where a crime reporter, Monki Chikori, awaits him. She is a die-hard fan of the great detective Totomaru Isshiki and wants to shadow him for a day. Monki wishes to write about him in the “People to Watch” column of Lime Weekly.
Since Monki was saved by a detective when she was a kid, she considers detectives heroes. Toto tells her that he mostly has paperwork today, so they can have the interview over coffee. However, when they go inside a café, Ron is playing at being a barista. Toto is surprised to see him, but he plays along.
Ron tells Toto that having a good relationship with a crime reporter will help them in the future. Crime reporters can be a source of intel for complex cases. Meanwhile, three girls also enter the café after Toto and Monki. One of them steps out to take pictures while the other two go to order. Ron is surprisingly good at latte art.
However, Ron’s shenanigans annoy Monki, and she yells at him to not disturb Toto. During their banter, one of the girls, Julie, collapses. Ron rushes to her and asks Toto to call the ambulance as well as the police as Julie was poisoned. Ron lies down next to Julie’s corpse in his usual fashion, but Monki reprimands him for disturbing the crime scene.
Monki has too much faith in Toto’s skills as a detective. The current suspects are Ron and the other two girls. Monki has covered a lot of complex cases, so Ron convinces her to call Toto whenever she comes across any crime scene. Toto starts deducing the case but reaches a dead end. Toto loses his cool over being unable to figure anything out, and Monki’s image of Toto being carefree shatters.
However, Ron notices something misplaced in one of the photos Julie took and solves the mystery. Toto excuses himself from Monki to go hear Ron’s deduction. Before leaving, he tells Monki to hide anything that can potentially serve as a murder weapon just in case Ron acts out again.
While Hayami was carrying the lattes to the table, she slightly messed up the latte art on the not-poisoned lattes. Considering Julie always liked to be the center of attention, she chose the perfect but poisoned latte. Hayami is the culprit. Ron pressures her into killing herself, but Toto saves the day again.
Monki realized that Toto’s true strength was not solving mysteries like magic but earnestly thinking about them. She respects him a lot more now.
