Many players wonder if romance is part of Metaphor: ReFantazio. As you build relationships with your companions, the chance for romance becomes an intriguing possibility. Your choices can deepen your bonds or lead to unexpected twists, but is it possible to develop a romantic relationship in the game?
1. Is there romance in Metaphor: ReFantazio?
There is no romance feature in Metaphor ReFantazio. However, throughout the game’s story, it implies a developing bond between the protagonist and mustari priestess Eupha. She is the fifth character player recruited to their party.
There is no direct RPG romance system that lets you grow a romantic relationship with any of the available characters. Even with Eupha, there are slight instances of implied feelings but that’s as close as you can get to romance in Metaphor ReFantazio.
However, the game has a bond system that deals with the protagonist’s relationships with the other characters.
2. What is the bond system in Metaphor: ReFantazio?
The Bond System deals with the “friend level” or “closeness” with the other characters in Metaphor ReFantazio. Spending time with characters and choosing the right dialogue during a conversation increases a player’s bond level with a character.
Thus, it measures the strength of the bond character’s relationship. Each of these bonds is linked to a summon and players unlock new abilities as they move up the bond level. There are a total of eight levels for each character.
Unfortunately, no matter how high you reach in terms of bond level, it will never turn into a romantic relationship.
Still, to be fair, there is no time for romance when you are trying to protect the kingdom and fighting enemies around the clock while dealing with ever-growing racism. So, chin up and fight on!
3. About Metaphor: ReFantazio
Metaphor: ReFantazio is set in the United Kingdom of Euchronia, a medieval fantasy realm mirroring the contemporary real world after the assassination of its former King. Years earlier, an assassination attempt on the Prince resulted in him being cursed and falling into a long slumber.
The protagonist, Will, an orphaned boy of the magic-wielding Elda tribe and the Prince’s childhood friend, participates in the Royal Tournament, held to decide the throne’s successor, journeying across Euchronia to rally support from its people while searching for a way to lift the curse.
