Unsurprisingly, Windows has ceased support for Windows 7 and 8, citing security issues. As the world evolves, operating systems become one of the first victims.
Even though a few original Grand Theft Titles like San Andreas and Vice City were initially compatible with Windows 7 and 8, when the Rockstar Launcher was initially launched, San Andreas shipped it accessible as a freebie to motivate users to download the launcher.
This should not shock fans, as Windows 7 and 8 security updates stopped shipping in October 2023. The latest version of Rockstar games also introduces minor bug fixes.

The official changelog attached to the patch mentions stability improvements as a part of the update. However, they have not elaborated on the issue. The update to version number 1.0.84.1829 rolled out on January 30th, and players have to update to keep using the launcher.
For those with nostalgic sentiments, this is quite a shock. But the wiser ones know this is a positive step forward and the only path to progress.
