Episode 12 will be the last episode of season 3, and with the Phoenix’s revival looming on their head, they have a lot to prepare. Leaving Motoyasu aside, the three heroes have reunited. Itsuki is still in a state of mental shock, and whether or not he recovers before the big fight will be a huge variable in the battle. Everyone in Naofumi’s team is training hard to face the enemy.

3. Recap of Episode 11
The duel between Itsuki and Rishia is about to begin. Just as Itsuki stepped inside the arena, he noticed Naofumi in the gallery. He understands that the whole thing is a setup. Instead of fighting Rishia, he points his arrow towards Naofumi and the others, but Naofumi deflects his arrow.
Itsuki was under the impression that he was helping slave children with the rewards he earned every day. Malty manipulated him into thinking that Naofumi was forcibly making slave children work. He again accused Naofumi of being evil and pointed his bow at him.
His bow transforms into a stronger version, which confirms Naofumi’s suspicions about him unlocking the curse series. Itsuki uses his attack towards the ceiling this time, which then gets divided into several shots. Naofumi protects everyone with his shield. This new power of the bow has the capability of brainwashing others.
Seeing him hurting others, Rishia challenges him to a fight again. Their fight finally begins. Rishia, who has grown much stronger since the last time Itsuki saw her, quickly starts to overpower him. She demonstrates multiple sword techniques, strong enough to rival one of the cardinal heroes.
Being humiliated like this, Itsuki’s rage and his twisted concept of justice take over his mind as he unleashes the full power of the “Curse of Pride”. This gives him a lot of new powers, such as shadow bind. With this newly acquired strength, he breaks Rishia’s sword and tells her to surrender.
Rishia stands her ground firmly as she swears to save Itsuki from this despair. This time, the cardinal bow rejects Itsuki’s will and gives Rishia a translucent weapon made of pure energy. Rishia prepares again to fight him with this new power. She cuts through Itsuki’s attacks using this weapon.
As she launches her final attack towards him, we see that this weapon can use moves akin to the cardinal weapons, for example, attacks like “Air Strike Throw”. She breaks Itsuki free from the curse series, but being defeated, he runs out of the arena and reaches home.
Betraying his expectations, he finds no one there. Naofumi, Ren and Rishia enter the room, where Naofumi finds a letter from Malty. It was a simply stated letter of betrayal, as she left a huge debt stamped on Itsuki’s name. From this sudden shock, Itsuki falls unconscious.
The next day, he wakes up in Naofumi’s village with Rishia on his side. Raphtalia asks Naofumi if he will be ok. Naofumi says that since he used the curse series and even got denied by his own bow, it will take some time for him to recover from that shock, but otherwise, he will be fine.

Tate no Yusha no Nariagari or The Rising of the Shield Hero is an isekai light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi. It was initially published as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website from 2012 to 2015.
In August 2013, Media Factory started publishing the light novel series with an expanded storyline featuring illustrations by Seira Minami.
