Rick and Morty have a new villain to face, and with previous escape hatches closed off, the hilarious pair will have to conquer their greatest threat at a clear disadvantage.
Will they prove their resilience? Only Season 6 can tell, but now we know more about the upcoming season since Adult Swim just dropped a trailer. The trailer has opened up a world-level threat to Rick and Morty’s sole universe, an Armageddon situation but with worms – just as one would expect from the sci-fi black comedy.
The animated TV series has wowed fans all over the years since its premiere on Netflix in December 2013. Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, the show boasts a talented cast of voice actors, including Roiland, who voices both the leads, Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer, and Sarah Chalke.
The series follows Rick Sanchez, a cynical mad scientist, and his grandson Morty, a goodhearted but anxiety-ridden child, and their misadventures through space and time. Though they have depended on their portals to evade one threat and another through the seasons, Season 5 drastically changed their go-to backup plan.
The Season 5 finale of the adult animated show ended with Evil Morty destroying the Central Finite Curve and erasing the Multiverse in which Rick and Morty traveled. In an unprecedented change since the show’s beginning, the two will be forced to face the dangers in their path head-on with the Multiverse out of play.
The exciting change has the anticipation and hopes of the fans up for a fresh and brilliant Season 6, and Adult Swim is definitely delivering. They released a trailer for Season 6 of Rick and Morty on Youtube, which you can tap the link below to view!
The trailer opens with a fun party held by the grandfather-grandson duo, but things take a nasty turn almost immediately when Rick gets a notification, “Global Danger: Wormageddon.”
Rick tries to open a portal for the party people to escape. But one unfortunate monster gets liquified as he tries to enter the portal, cementing the fact that the duo can not use the Multiverse to dodge their problems anymore. The partygoers receive a signal from Rick to gear up, and they all head to exterminate the giant worms wreaking havoc on their world.
The trailer for Season 6 may have been short but is full of promise, and fans can’t wait till 4 September 2022, which is when Season 6 will premiere on Adult Swim and Netflix.
