Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World is a Japanese light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka. The series has received three manga adaptations and several other spinoffs.
The series has been published by MF Bunjo J since January 2014 and has also been adapted into an anime series, which is currently being animated by White Fox, and it first aired in April 2016.
1. Re:Zero Season 2 Release Date
It was officially announced at the Anime Japan 2019 that the anime would be having its second season. First episode of the second season of Re:Zero was supposed to release on June 30th, 2020. White Fox announced the premiere of the second season in April 2020 through its official website, which was later postponed to June-July due to coronavirus issues.
Update: Crunchyroll has confirmed that Re:ZERO Season 2 to Premiere First Half on July 8. Second half of split-cour season will follow in January 2021.

Fans all over the world were overjoyed with the news, and when the hype was at its peak, it all shattered down. It was later announced that the anime has been delayed three months further.
The White Fox explained the reason for the delay is that some of the production was outsourced to Chinese companies.
“Original work was done in Japan, but painting and specific animation were produced by outsourcing companies in China whose production was affected by attendance restrictions due to the impact of the coronavirus.”

2. Split-Cour
The good news is that the second season will have two cours composed of 25 episodes. It makes sense that Re:Zero S2 would be two cours since the first season was also a two-cour anime.
It’s also necessary since the next major story arc is long enough to require more episodes to maintain good story pacing.
3. Expected Storyline/Plot
Not much has been spoken about the plot of the second season of the isekai series. But from the teaser, we can work out on some points and can infer what the anime would be tackling in this new season.
It starts with Subaru standing in the grassland. As he starts to walk, the lush green grassland soon became bathed red with the blood of every individual whoever our protagonist came in contact with.
There were hundreds of corpses piled up on both sides of him as he walked towards a mysterious female, leisurely sipping on her cup of tea. And as Subaru closes in, a grim can be seen on the witch’s face.
Yes, she is a witch. But not Satella. She is the witch of greed, which is supposed to be dead. It is for sure that the new season would have lots and lots of dark elements in it.

8. About Re:Zero
The story follows Subaru Natsuki, a homebody who wakes up in a fantasy world on his way home from the convenience store. Meeting a silver-haired elf named Satella, he decides to help her on her journey to recover a stolen item.
After the two are mysteriously killed, Subaru wakes up to realize that he had gone back in time to the point when he first entered the world. Realizing he has a new power called “Return by Death,” which sends him back in time every time he dies, Subaru decides to use this new power to try and make a better life for himself in this world with the mysterious silver-haired elf.
