Revenger Episode 4: Release Date, Speculation, Preview

Nio takes Raizo on a tour of Chinatown of Nagasaki and Dejima in episode 3 of Revengers, titled “Fortune is Fickle and Blind”. Raizo and Soji come to be roommates, much to Soji’s annoyance. Usui meets up with Isarizawa, a government official in the magistrate’s office, who gives him a job for the Revengers.

While carrying out their mission, Soji makes a bet with Raizo for their room, but it results in a much surprising and displeasing outcome for him.

Episode 4 Speculation

Episode 4 is titled “Ask, and You Shall Receive”. Raizo and Soji have started living together as roommates. Although their initial interaction might not have been the best, they will definitely come to become good companions. The next episode will show more jobs taken by the Revengers, and we may get to see the duo in action again.

Teppa’s warning about Raizo seems like a foreshadowing, and Raizo’s involvement might trigger something dangerous for the group. We might learn more about the Chapel and how the group came to be slowly. The future episodes will also show each of their backstories since, so far, we only know Raizo’s.

Recap of Episode 3

Nio takes Raizo on a tour of Nagasaki and Dejima, the china town and pleasure district, to get him to familiarize himself with the city. They come across Sakata, a corrupt samurai official, taking away an innocent shopkeeper by blaming him for trading opium, allegedly tipped off by the shopkeeper’s wife.

They, along with Teppa, reach Soji’s room, and he comes to know that Raizo will be his roommate, much to his annoyance. He tries to protest, but Teppa reminds him of his due rent, and he reluctantly agrees. Soji tries to be rude to Raizo, but he replies calmly, annoying him even more.

Usui meets up with Jinkuro Isarizawa, a local government official who is famous in the red-light district. Isarizawa asks Usui if he knows anything about Raizo’s whereabouts and the murder in Satsuma, but Usui feigns ignorance.

Isarizawa then tells him that Sakata has gotten himself into trade unions and has beef with him. Usui remarks that Isarizawa has gotten the nickname “The Pajama Police” since he operates more in the red light district rather than his post.

Isarizawa tells Usui that he questioned the shopkeeper that Sakata dragged in that day, and he was given a gold coin with teeth marks. He gives it to Usui and tells him that he is sure he will know where it will go.

Teppa and Nio go to the part of the poor part of the town to investigate. There, they find a cave full of sick people who have all been used by Sakata in hopes of getting medicine for themselves, all while he was trading opium himself. They also find the shopkeeper’s wife and confirm that she framed his husband on Sakata’s orders.

The Revengers discuss the mission, and Soji asks Usui to leave it to him and Raizo.

Raizo and Soji go to carry out the job, and Nio tells them that there are five samurai they have to kill. Soji makes a bet with Raizo that whoever kills the most number of men can have the room.

Raizo agrees, and Soji is confident that he will win since he thinks that subtlety is not one of Raizo’s skills. However, he is quickly proven wrong when he sees his great stealth and rushes to kill as well.

Raizo comes across Sakata and is about to kill him when Soji uses his Hanafuda cards to kill him from the back. He begins celebrating his victory, but Raizo kills a hidden samurai, and Soji curses Nio for telling him there are five people when there were six.

Since their bet ended in a draw, the two have to decide to go back to roommates. However, they have found more mutual respect for each other.

Teppa informs Usui that Soji and Raizo have completed the job. Usui says that he hopes that they will get along well. Teppa warns Usui that if Raizo gets too involved with them, it will spell trouble, which Usui acknowledges.
